Some of the front runners so far are Jim Ziegler and Grant Cardone (among others) for the current featured survey. Curious as to what makes them "influential" to the automotive industry?
Those 5 names are pretty huge when it comes to who's been an influence in this decade. I know in my automotive training the Verde stuff was always used. However, I think it will be difficult to decide this one. Anyone have some compelling arguments towards one of these top trainers?
My opinion is that the poll numbers would need to be much bigger to be accurate. If that's besides the point another fact is the word "influential". The poll isn't about effective or best material or the last 50 years because it is limited to a decade. They are all excellent influences but the most influential would need to be a trainer that teachs in every area of the business. Only one trainer does that as far as I can tell.
Let's have another poll after this poll. One for the best over the history of the automobile business.
Geoff: That is a good idea for another poll to do this year ! So who is the one trainer in your opinion ?

I believe Dealer Elite will have over 1000 voters when the poll is over on June 20th , that will be more then most magazines get when they do their polls.
Notice many do not state how many votes each company or individual had, just the final results.

Grant Cardone is one of the most entertaining and influential in appeal for Sales Consultants, however, the training as the Psychology of Learning 'goes' MUST be reinforced DAILY by the Sales Management, otherwise it is primarily just entertainment... Obviously, Sales managements 'buy-in' to the applications that Grant professes is a necessity, as with all the Great trainers/developers above.
I voted for Grant not just because he trains, all of these guys do that. I know Joe, Dave Anderson and Jim, not the Lewis guy but it appears that Cardone is involved in so much more than just training, I see him everywhere. I don't sell cars but work with dealers. I remember when Cardone introduced Newton pads for sales people 15 years ago, and then the information assisted selling sales process to reduce confrontation. He was the first one that brought electronic desking to car dealers that has now been adopted by everyone and unsuccessfully copied by Reynolds and ADP.

You see Grant Cardone writing on Huffington Post, Entrepreneur.com, Business Week on Fox TV, Fox Business, CNBC and CNN. I understand his new book is going to hit the NY Times Best Seller List.....and the other night I am watchin the Joan Rivers show and he is introducing Donald Trump and Paul Mitchell in the shows trainers.

The very next night I turn around and see him making this huge push for the Brownback Amendment to help protect the dealers with not just one article but hundreds and then a video push on the topic on youtube. See it here-http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GYQWe4JShho .

All I know about the other guys is they claim to train sales people---- THE POLL IS MOST INFLUENTIAL TRAINER- WHO is creating the most influence. Good luck Grant and thanks for your help. KH
Interesting that there are no candidates from the Fixed side?
That is true, There was a survey for the member a week before the poll. Anyone who's named was suggested more than 10 times made the poll.
The members selected the 5
I beleive that Grant Cardone is the most influential because of his tireless effort to strive above his compitition and go where they are afraid to.

11 Comments Have seen three of these guys live and Grant has the most relevant and up to date info out there. Real world tools that can be used right away. I am the sales manager at one of the largest CJD stores in the midwest and top 25 in the nation. Any of them can do a good job of motivating, however Grant is at another level. I have been in automotive General Management and Technology to Dealerships and have not seen anyone make the leap to keep up with Technology and Information as fast as Grant has.

Technology is changing at such a rapid rate now, it is doubling every 18-24 months or less at times, and Grant is the only one keeping ahead of the curve in keeping name awareness and promotion.

Dealerships need to change NOW or die, because the clients are demanding it which will make you change your OLD processes.

I vote Grant because they all have good information, but have not embraced Technology to the extent Grant has.

Grant Cardone had guts enough to change the selling cycle because "The customers had changed" not just to have something to teach. I appreciate his leadership, passion and vision. They say it takes about 15 yeras to be an overnight success, I believe the imformation threw the Grant Cardone teachings, materials, seminars, social media more relavant each passing day and will not only continue to change the Automotive Industry for the better,it is transending and is valuable today to alll business's.

Grant Cardone is the real deal. This is not a competition, it's a confirmation on the relevance of the speaker and his subject matter. No other single voice has had a greater impact on my career and my personal income than Grant Cardone. Because of that, I have been a disciple of Grant Cardone's for over 20 years.

I have attended seminars from many other trainers and listened to their material, but NO ONE has impacted my selling like Grant. He is a relentless student of our culture and of human behavior--and he sees EVERYTHING through a filter of selling.

Thank you Grant for helping me earn millions...and for pointing us all in the direction we need to go to earn missions more!

Making it happen in the automotive industry for over 20 years!

If You're Not First...You're Last is the title of Grant's new book. Wow after looking at DealerElite's current poll results the competition has been lapped about 5 times on this racetrack!

I'm glad I'm on Grant and the Cardone Group's pit crew!

I attended a Grant Cardone seminar when I first got into the business as a salesperson in 1993. It was excellent sales training. Since I have been involved in dealership management however, I have attended several seminars and workshops held by Dave Anderson and I have to say that the value of his teachings have improved the entire culture of our dealership group. He is very well versed in the changing culture and environment of the auto industry and what it takes to stay ahead of the curve and be successful in todays market. I would recommend his books, seminars and workshops to any management team. It is a results oriented program and well worth the title of Most Influential Automotive Trainer!! WE want Dave! We want Dave! We want Dave! Thanks for motivating and engaging some 200 BG Products reps and distributors from the westen United States just weeks ago in San Diego. We laughed, we looked inward and we saw the future. Thanks for being so very important to our business and thanks for being so gracious as you autographed your many books for us in the long line afterwards.

DAVE ANDERSON is the most influential trianer of the decade! Dave is a man of character, integrity, leadership, who not only trains on these things, but lives his life this very same way...which definitly make him extremely influential! I, and my entire team of managers, have learned and absorbed so much from Dave because of his integrity, principles, and approach. He has armed me, and us, with the tools necessary to continue forward with accountability and success. Not only does Dave motivate me, but his approach has helped me to dig deeper within myself to find more inner motivation, which is truly one of the foundations for lasting success!

Dave Anderson is one of my heros! He has spoken to many functions and conventions sponsored by my company, BG Products, Inc. His advice on leadership has been extremely benificial to me personally and has resulted in increased income for our company. Dave is a man of honesty, integrity, and passion. I am honored to vote for him as the most influential automotive trainer of the decade.

Grant Cardone has been the most influential trainer of the decade. He has also done more to erase many of the stereotypes that existed in this industry as a result of formerly accepted but bad training methods. Cardone continues to evolve with technology and communication like no other authority in the business. I appreciate the marked improvement in our dealership's performance as a result of the daily training we receive from Grant Cardone.

Dave Anderson is by and far the best I have seen in many years. I have experienced the training from several of the nominees and as a trainer and HR executive for 17 years, DAVE ANDERSON has the knowledge, passion and credibility to engage the learner and make them a successful individual.

It is an honor to work with Dave and his staff and have them be a part of our success!

What an inspration Dave Anderson has been. We quote him regularly around here. I'm challenged by the standards he sets and motivated to stretch myself to reach them. Dave's message of integrity and character in these times is desparately needed today. I'm thankful that he has the guts to say what needs to be said when and where it needs to be heard.

I've always felt that with Dave Anderson, one always knew where one stood. There's no grey area with Dave, he tells it like it is. If you're failing, he will tell you, but he will also share with you what you need to do to change your bad habits to improve.

Dave is a person with the utmost integrity and delivers upon his advertised promise. We have recommended Dave to many automotive groups and dealerships over the years and they are still utilizing his services today. I would say that is testament to his ability as a trainer.

Motivating,Integrity,Leadership & Passion come to mind when Dave Anderson speaks. As a Sales Rep, Sales Mgr. & now as an Owner, I only hope I can do what Dave has outlined in his talks. I have always had the passion and pride but Dave Anderson helped me to develop a deeper sense of what true leadership and management should be. Thank You.

I first saw Grant Cardone in 1992 we were experiencing a down economy then too and I was trying to increase my income, his solutions worked quite well. Since then I have used Grant's training and solutions in dealerships I have managed, his information and solutions are relevant up to date and changing with the times. His ideals work in any business environment not just the auto industry.I learned from Grant that I could solve all my problems by producing more and by giving all of my customers a better service experience. He is Spot On! Customers want information, choices, speed of service, professionalism, and to feel appreciated. By using these ideals in today's economic challenges I have not only remained successful...so have my customers! Thanks Grant!

I have known Dave Anderson for many years and have enjoyed countless Dave Anderson seminars and motivational speeches. As many times as I have seen him speak or have heard his tapes, CDs and DVDs I always walk away richer, more knowledgeable, better prepared and much more confident. Dave Anderson should own the title of Most Influential Trainer of the Decade, but if he doesn't get it through this voting process he will still have it with me.

Dave is one of the most dynamic speakers I have ever heard. He’s someone that other speakers look to emulate. His presentations are filled with enthusiasm and real life experiences. When Dave speaks, people listen and they do so because of his wisdom and the high standards he brings to the table. He is without a doubt my all time favorite speaker and author. Tommy Gibbs

dave anderson brings a unique quality of common sense to automotive training. having read his books, used his website, and frequenting his seminars, i can honestly say it is refreshing to see a trainer take a long term approach to influencing the automobile business instead of just trying to sell the training of the day. thanks dave for all your help over the years
