We all know we should be keeping in contact with internet leads for at least 180+ days. However, in the first 20-30 days is an e-mail a day overkill? Especially an e-mail a day in the first 10 days?

There is obviously no perfect process that every dealer can follow. When I advise a dealer on their internet process, I look at their lead sources, closing percentages, product offering, inventory mix and numerous other factors (geography, customer base etc...). I believe a best practice would be and e-mail every couple of days the first 2 weeks and then maybe every 3-5 days after that until you want to stop your internet follow up process. Good topic though, I have heard a ton of great ideas on the subject.
Over kill on emails YES!
The first day a personal letter should be mailed out thanking them for the opportunity.
The 3rd day if the customer won't respond I would call and let them know that I really don't want to be the kind of Salesman that emails you everyday and have you feel that am annoying you everyday.
Then I will tell them that I am going mail them out a 12 mo ,12,000 mile free maintenance plan if they plan a day to see me in advance.
Cost on a 12 mo ,12,000 mile maintenance plan is really economical and the fin mgr will like the set up.
The cost has to come out of the front end profit.
