  • Your enemy, it all comes down to these five steps.

We have an enemy and that enemy is time yes time. Why a large majority of us are still stuck saying we have always done it this way are fast becoming outpaced. We are living in the mobile and time era.

Do you remember when you were first starting out in automotive sales and how you were going to set the world on fire? I remember watching the seasoned veterans working there clients and how smooth they were with their clients and how I could never get it quite that good. We had the training DVDs but while I was in the back training everybody else was out front making money.

What was a guy / girl to do befriend one of the seasoned salesmen the only problem with that was they did not mind sharing because they would get a half a deal. Or I would watch when they had a customer and go to a vehicle next to the one they were showing and try and listen to their sales techniques. But even then I could never quite get it right unless they took you under their wing but that was only to a select few. Hell you want to learn but it cost you a half deal or you work it and get a mini deal. I remember my first month I sold eight and a half cars out of that I sold four.

Thinking back I probably ran off more customers than I made due to the lack of a proper skill set. I never knew what to say on a demo ride or the finer techniques on the walk around or demo ride. I was always told to get in bed with the clients it took me a while to understand what that meant. Even seasoned veterans can benefit from helpful tips would you agree?
