I'm new to dE, and a newly hired internet sales manager. I'd like to know what some of the best techiques some of you have used with facebook. What methods and content worked and didnt seem too overbearing for the friends and viewers on the other end. Thanks!

Hey Andrew,

You have to keep in mind that you are only remembered as recently as your last post. I try to keep our Facebook page updated with reminders, etc at least twice a day, so that I stay near the top of peoples 'Recent News' list. If you don't update consistently, you slide out of the awareness of those following. However you have to keep it to only a sentence or two, as well as a link, so that there isn't a huge blurb that is always showing up in the news feed. That gets irritating for some.

I have also posted links to videos, articles, anything that I find relevant on the web that I think our followers may be interested in. Plus it keeps the content fresh on your page as well. I am still relatively new to it as well, so I am seeking social media advice everywhere I look on the web.

Some Points,
Run sweepstakes or referals where people have to do some activity on your facebook page and not just like your facebook page, You can request people to like offers etc and of a certain number of their friends avail the offer they get a free service or discount Get people to upload photographs or when people are at the dealership for delivery click a photo upload and tag it and keep writing 2-3 comments against the tag so their friends get to know about the buy, also talk about any offers if they have availed them e.g. "Jenny got a great deal with new years special at Goudy" average saving compared to other delaership 3000$ etc.
give out coupons on facebook and facebook only offers.
keep people involved with local talk
tie up with other local businesses for cross promotions on facebook e.,g with the next service you also get a 10% off at a certain restaurant, the restaurant can give a discount on oil change etc

Some additional tips,
1. Always create public pages and not add people to your profile as public pages get crawled
2. Write good content with keywords on your profile as the content gets crawled
3. Use the name of the local area while creating the page for local optimization
4. Participate in market place

For more tips this I think is the best managed facebook page and campaigns hand down !!
