Making PPC Clicks Count

As many dealership marketers know, search campaigns are a necessary part of a multi-channel marketing strategy. The danger with search campaigns is the potential for pay-per-clicks to become very expensive, which tends to happen when marketing vendors use a single strategy for all dealerships, and set up campaigns as…

Compensation Can Affect Employee Loyalty & Satisfaction

Dealerships have forever tweaked pay plans to satisfy bottom lines and keep employees happy. Many employees in the sales department can make more money from a single sales commission than any technician can make in a day. There are even some salespeople that are so productive that their paychecks can exceed those of their sales managers – and sometimes that leads to friction…

I've been asked this question so many times, so I decided to put together my own personal guide to share. Do with it what you will. Accept it, challenge it, modify it, it's at least a starting point. It's attached as well. Enjoy!

The Credit Ladder

Imagine, if you will, a ladder. This ladder represents the entire credit market and each rung is a bucket of credit scores. At the top is the prime rung. Just below that is near prime and below that subprime. On many dealers' ladders, the lowest rung is below subprime. The problem with this rung is that it moves. Some months this rung is down around 550, some months it is up…

What’s in Your Wallet?

A couple generations ago, if you didn’t carry cash on your person, perhaps a personal check was accepted at your favorite store.  Then credit cards became an option, followed quickly by debit cards.  And now, with technology changing seemingly overnight, two new payment options are becoming available to consumers at select and very notable retailers.

Want A Pay Raise? Up Yours!

3 lbs is all that is keeping you from ultimate success. It’s your brain. If it weren’t for our brain, the sales profession would be an easy job. Instead of using our brain as a tool, we use it instead as a weapon-on ourselves. It’s the self-defeating thoughts, past experiences, and bleak predictions that sharpen our blades of self-destruction.

Interviews With Buy Here Pay Here Experts

FYI Buy Here Pay Here people...

BHPHinterviews.com was just posted with 7 audio interviews with experts like Brent Carmichael from NCM. They are free to download and a Tablet Kindle Fire is being given away.

I personally did all the interviews because I wanted them to be content driven and NOT sales pitch driven.

Let me know your favorite.

Compensation Philosophy

A Consultant’s Approach to Developing Sound Compensation Strategies for Dealership Managers and Sales People

pen

There are today, and there probably always will be, as many different compensation plans as there are dealerships. That is the nature of our business: to be individualistic; to have a unique dealership culture reflected in the way we treat our customers and our employees. And management and sales pay plans are certainly a part of that unique…

Facebook is undeniably one of the most influential companies on the internet; they dominate the social media landscape and cause web-wide rage with even the most minor of updates. Could they do more, though? They certainly seem to think so.

When to Compensate Non-exempt Employees for Lectures, Meetings and Training Programs

by Tamara Lischer

Many of our clients seek clarification regarding training pay and when they are required to compensate non-exempt employees for the lectures, meetings, and trainings they attend. The Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) requires employers to compensate employees for all hours worked.  Hours worked ordinarily…

Facebook Allows For Ad Targeting by Zip Code

Until now, Facebook has allowed advertisers on their platform to target users based on age, sex, interests and location (country, state, and city).  In order to drill down even further, Facebook now allows users to target their ads by zip code as well.

When creating your Facebook ad, just add the zip codes that you would like to target.  Unlike Google AdWords, you can't use a radius to target further, so make sure that you are including any zip codes from which your…

Dealers In California May Be Forced To Change The Way Salespeople Are Paid

In a class action lawsuit filed on June 21, 2011 against AutoNation (Santa Clara Superior Court, entitled Lilly v. AutoNation, Case No. 1-11-CV-203569), attorneys are claiming that AutoNation is in violation of the California Labor Code by misclassifying commissioned sales reps as exempt from overtime and, in addition, issuing deduct vouchers post-sale for losses in commissionable gross due to repair or…
