I seriously DO NOT GET IT? Why if car dealers have questions, concerns, problems, advice for 3rd party providers and online classifieds and ask them to PLEASE be on a JOINT panel with 6 OTHER 3rd party providers and 200+ DEALERS… why they would blow it…

I hit all of my closing ratio targets for all of my stores, which is how I get paid. Great month, so why am I nervous?
Maybe it has something to do with the fact that I work in an area where TrueCar has a contract with every high-volume dealer for every franchise, and that TrueCar has been supplying more and more quality leads to our dealer group over the last several months. For April, they were nearly TIED with our own website for deals.
SEO, SEM, lead process, remarketing,…

Have y'all seen this article in Automotive News?
The $1.5 BILLION valuation just astounds me. Would TrueCar going public bring more transparency to their business model and/or validate their "change of heart"?
"TrueCar said to consider IPO for next year"

It looks like everyone wants to be in the automotive lead generation business. Over the last year I have been writing about Google Cars; a program (in beta testing) to present new car inventory to consumers shopping for a car directly in Google search results. Dealers are charged by Google on a per lead basis.
Today, I learned that TRUECar has expanded…

Jason Stein, editor of Automotive News, broke the story today that TrueCar has ended their exclusive relationship with Yahoo to drive traffic and leads to the TrueCar platform. The breakup was due to the lack of traffic and leads that Yahoo Autos was producing.
According the the…

The Data War is raging.
Automotive dealers are becoming more enlightened daily as they are being exposed at NADA and through forums such as DealerElite to the very serious matter of consumer and dealer data leakage. By data leakage, I am referring to the unrestricted polling or scraping of their dealership DMS (computer systems) by vendors providing software "solutions" that are suppose to be helping dealers organize and maximize sales. Typically, these vendors have inserted…

Car Research, a CRM company, takes an EXTREMELY strong dealer-protective and data-protective stance--essentially, they're first to take a strong public stand that they do NOT share data with anyone and only use the data as a dealer directs. No selling of data! No remarketing to your customers! No condescension! ON A DEALER'S SIDE RIGHT OUTTA' THE GATE FOR YEARS NOW AND STILL GOING FORWARD! WONDERFUL!!!! Here's their email announcement:

It was Monday December 12, 2011 and I had decided to take a nap at 4:00 PM as I had just spent an average of 14 hours per day working from my home office. I actually spent all weekend working on projects and creating more curriculums.
My nap was rather long and I slept until 8:00 PM. I woke up and looked at my cell phone only to find a voice message from a random phone number in California. I listened to the message and saw that it was one of Scott Painter's people…

I received this email about eight hours ago from an employee of DealerTrack. They asked me that I kept it discreet so I will not be mentioning who it was that sent this to me. It is amazing that DealerTrack's own employees have certain opinions about DealerTrack selling ALG to TrueCar. Does it mean that DealerTrack's own employees are against this deal too? I know that I myself could not work for a company that would allow something like this (no matter how much money I was getting…

I have been reading about truecar over the last week or so. There have been strong opinions on each side of the issue. The reality is truecar is here for now and probably will not be going away for quite some time. I don't have time to wait. I need to sell cars right now.
Question: A sales call comes in and the customer says they have a truecar certificate to a dealer that is 50 miles away. Then the question from the customer is "will you honor the truecar price?"
How would you…
