Social Content Examples for December 2014

Let me start off by stressing the word social, these are going to be topics, events and days of interest that you can use to be conversation pieces with people in your online communities. None will be car specific but instead topics that might stimulate two-way conversations and recognition. People are pretty smart, they know ABC Toyota sells Toyota’s, you don’t have to tell them every day.

These topics will fall into the fun section of my 4-3-2-1 Rule of Facebook Posting. Each month,…

Stop Doing These Five Things and People Will Stop Unliking Your Page

Losing a friend stinks; losing a client costs you money; people unliking your Facebook page is both! Historically, people have had a somewhat negative opinion of car dealers in general, and not many of them want to be friends with a dealer on Facebook. However, when you get the chance to build that relationship, that relationship that may one day lead to a sale, so don’t…

Making Chicken Salad Out of a Bad Review

“To err is human; to forgive, divine” – Alexander Pope

Mistakes happen, people realize this. Nobody expects a business to be perfect, as everyone has bad days. However, how you handle these mistakes is the secret to formulating long-term opinions of your…

What You Can Do with $100 to Promote Your Dealership!

As social media continues to grow, it’s about time it gets its own line item on your advertising budget. I’m not saying you need to totally replace other advertising means, but just that you need to trim a small portion off and dedicate it to social media.

As an example, I want to share with you a case study of a Valentine’s Day contest we did with one of our relatively new clients. They decided to invest in a $100 gift card. The basic premise was that people would submit couple…

Daily Dealer Engagement Tips – 10/6/2012

Engagement is everything! If your online community is not engaging you, they aren’t seeing your message. I went into a lot more detail in a recent blog post that I wrote entitled “Car Dealers Are Not the Kardashians”.

One note before I begin, having a lot of Facebook likes is great but having quality LOCAL likes is so much more important. A lot of what I will talk about will be general tips but take them and put a local twist whenever possible. Find topics that people in your…

Car Dealers are not the Kardashian’s

The paparazzo isn’t hiding in your bushes trying to get a picture of you. Media sources aren’t following you on vacation to capture a picture of you in a bathing suit. No need for security when you leave the building. If there is, you have bigger problems!

People don’t have the same passion level for your dealership that they do for their favorite TV stars or sports…

Some Thing’s Change, Some Thing’s Stay The Same

Wow how things have changed in the twenty years I have been in the car business. When I got started, there wasn’t any internet department or internet leads, you made your living on the floor or by old school methods like “brown bag networking”.

One thing I learned during the 30 minutes of training that I received before hitting the floor, that still holds true today is repeat and referral customers are golden, they sell easier and you usually make a higher…

4/16 is Foursquare Day, What Does This Mean to Your Dealership?

Let me start by asking, are you familiar with Foursquare? Basically, it is a location based network where you can share places you have been with your friends by “checking in” at your favorite places. Also, you can add tips for other people to read when they check in. Then, probably the biggest social effect that happens for businesses is that once you check in on Foursquare, it asks you if you want to share that information on your Facebook and Twitter pages.

Imagine for a minute,…

What is a Facebook friend worth to your dealership?

I have read a couple of articles about what a Facebook fan is worth to a

business and there is zero consensus. This is rightfully so in my

opinion considering every business is different so won't the value be

different? Will restaurants have the same value as dealerships? I don't

think so. I want to try to figure out a dollar amount with your help for

car dealers.

First off, I said friend not fan because I thinks friends will have a higher value. Profile pages… Continue

Risk and Reward

Credit availability for subprime customers is still low, but the well is not dry. In fact, there are signs that special finance is making a comeback, with the bankruptcy niche leading the way. Finance sources with an established history in the bankruptcy segment know the payoff is worth the risk. They know those consumers will be relatively debt free at the end of the process and motivated to reestablish their credit.

That makes BK customers an ideal candidate for financing. And with… Continue
