In this video Jackie Cooper quotes verbatim a guy named Elmer Wheeler that first said it in the late 1920's and taught it up until his death in 1968.

Jackie believed he was quoting J. Douglas Edwards and to Jackie J. Douglas was "the greatest sales trainer he knew of".

J. Douglas also quoted the exact same phrase and named Elmer Wheeler as the originator. Each of these sales greats said repeatedly that the basics don't change, but the specifics of the words do and will.
