@ Gillon - I'm impressed my friend. Truly, you are a shining example of bringing the team together!~

@ Chris - So as long as we never forget those who groomed us, we have a shot at grooming others. I'm glad you enjoyed this message, a pleasure to rub elbows with you my friend!~

This is so true. If it wasn’t for my mentors in the business I would have failed. Great video!

@ Bobby...and yesterday-Saturday-was even better...As I now have the validation I needed to feel great about what I was doing. I see now how I can really help the Green Peas stay for a while and give themselves a chance.  How often do we see a talented newbie just quit showing up on his 19th day, when just a few supportive words would have helped him stay long enough to find his niche. These people are finding that though they work under the dealers roof, they are running their own business. It's a daunting prospect for even the boldest new salesperson.

I'm gonna' take some control here, and help them with what I am best at...Follow-up, phone calls, relationship building...It's funny...I didn't tell the G.M. anything, I just started doing it. He says NOTHING to me, and that's gotta' be good.

@ Gillon-Gillon-Gillon... You my friend are the inspiration here and I'm glad you find inspiration in my video. It's one thing to recognize the message behind it, and another to be one of the Mentors doing it,- as you do!

I can speak from first hand experience, I thought I was pretty good as a Salesman starting out; my skill set went through the roof as soon as I started taking turns and helping others.

The method of "The Understudy" is a Win Win for everyone! The more we give the more we get; not necessarily do we get by others giving to us, rather the reward is two fold - help another human being in growing their career but the real winner is the one who gives as the ultimate reward is in sharpening our own skills to be better at selfless selling and training!

What really excites me is that you are going to share this insight with your team, now that my friend is going the extra mile.

Wishing you a most blessed and Happy Easter weekend!~

Bobby-Bobby-Bobby...I don't know how you do it, and this is not B.S. condescending crap. You are so right on target here. It's so funny, I am going right through this at our Chevy store right now. There are four new kids chomping at the bit, and they think I am somebody. I just want to help them get going, give themselves a chance. They need work to do...I tell them that all they have to do is be on the phone when there is no person in front of them. To them it seems almost too easy.

The good ole' boys on the sales team devastate and sabotage their fresh attitudes bell to bell.  It's me against years of old school.  At this point, I am an un-offical/self apointed "Mentor"  I love it and I want to help!

Remember the guy on Captain Kangaroo who spun the plates at the top of those 5' high sticks?  He'd get a hundred of them going, and as he started another one, the first ones would slow down, start wobbeling, and he would run over and get the plate spinning again. ???  Any way...

You're right on target, and I am going in in about an hour (it's Saturday morning) and I'm gonna tell all of them, veterans included, how I've been inspired by your vid, and press ahead.

Thanks so much for the validation!!!

Hey...also..thanks for getting the Female Friendly thing in front of me as well!

Off into another day of the Car Biz...

sincerely,

Gillon

@ Troy - That's "AWESOME" my friend. I love success stories of great mentors who take pride in helping "THE UNDERSTUDY".

We need more of this mentality in our industry. I have ZERO PRIDE in pointing out a mentor, and in fact consider anybody I can learn from and who is willing to teach to me a mentor on one level or another.

You my friend, I consider a Mentor on one level and another.

Thanks for being you my most Positive brother!~

I Just hired one of first understudys from 8 years ago. He turned our great and I am reaoing the rewards 8 years later. You never know when it will come back, but it will. Mentor as many as you can. Great Stuff.....

Brother Bobby! I have had many mentors in my life. Thanks for reminding me how important they all were.

@ Kevin - We see eye to eye on many levels my friend!

Thank you, and well said - (The more you train, the better you retain!)

@ Marsh - I realized early on from taking turns from other sales people, the more help I gave the better I sharpened my own skills. It is possible to be selfish and selfless at the same time. Give to Get......

Thank you my friend for all your continued input and support. You're a REAL DEAL PRO!~
