IN ONLINE CAR MATCHMAKING, MEN ARE MORE EXPRESSIVE THAN WOMEN

In the world of online matchmaking, women express their inner feelings through their online ads more so than men. In the world of online “car matchmaking”, not so much. An analysis of gender-specific online “car ads” by national car leasing marketplace, Swapalease.com, finds that men are more expressive when it comes to details of the cars they’re trying to pair up with others.

The nationwide online marketplace helps match people wanting out of their car lease with others around the country interested in picking up the remainder of the contract. In addition to standard vehicle features and contractual terms, drivers can post pictures of their car as well as thorough descriptions of the vehicle in order to entice interested buyers.

According to Swapalease.com, approximately seven out of every ten ads posted by men offer more and higher quality internal and external photos of the vehicle. Also, these ads offer detailed personal descriptions of the car’s performance and characteristics, including how much driving has been done in certain weather conditions and interesting places they’ve taken the car.

Women offer up similar details in just four out of every ten ads, on average. Many of their ads, though, are less descriptive and restrictive when it comes to vehicle photos.

“I think what you find here is that men are typically in their comfort zone when it comes to talking about their cars,” said Scot Hall, Executive Vice President of Swapalease.com. “Women are much more interested in cars today, and they’re participating more in the car-shopping process, but many of their ads show how they still struggle to describe their vehicles.”

"Women want to accessorize and add aftermarket upgrades to their relationships while men want to accessorize and add aftermarket upgrades to their vehicles,” said Tamara McCleary, America’s RelationShift Expert. “From a social anthropological perspective, women shop for relationships through biology and shop for cars through desire, while men shop for relationships through desire and cars through their biology."

On the Swapalease.com marketplace, women sellers are just as successful as men. But having more robust and descriptive ads could deliver additional early suitors for women to choose from. This sometimes translates into faster transfers earlier in the sales process, saving time and money.

Headquartered in Cincinnati, Ohio, Swapalease.com is the world’s largest automotive lease marketplace and the pioneer in facilitating lease transfers online. More specifically Swapalease.com matches individuals who want to get out of their lease with people who are looking for short-term lease agreements. Prospective buyers can search the listings for the exact vehicle they want, and then register for a nominal fee, allowing them to use Swapalease.com’s safe online system to contact the prospective seller and close the deal.
