Insights into my first 6 weeks of the auto sales industry!

I started into the car business 6 weeks ago and I have had a lot of exciting and not so exciting things happen! I hope to explain the highlights of what I have learned and some of my accomplishments. 

1. There are a lot of amazing opportunities every single day to make something great happen. Everyday I wake up not knowing what I am going to make at the end of it all. I wake up knowing that I control my destiny, that I control my attitude, that I control the game. I have never been so motivated to go to work, to take chances and to succeed in my life. This is the business for the adventure junkie, for the control freak, for the go-getter. I took that attitude and decided that in my first full month, I would become the top salesman. I did. I out sold and out hustled the 25+ year veterans and made friends along the way. I have people with 12-15 years experience asking what I'm doing and seeking MY advice! It's possible to achieve whatever you want and I am living proof of it. 

2. There are a lot of negative sources out there. They could be coworkers, some of the customers, the TV that is on in the service drive, the weather. But despite the weather, despite the water-cooler talk, despite the "I am just looking's" and "You won't/can't sell me anything today's" you can CHOOSE POSITIVITY! I've sold cars in the middle of a blizzard (the test drive was AWESOME), late at night, from people who were just kicking tires and to people buried in negative equity (isn't it funny how we called it buried in NEGATIVE equity). It's possible, always possible and we make it happen.

3. I've learned about the three "E's": Energy, Excitement, Excellence. If you start the meet and greet that way, nail the demo and walk around with them, and hit the close in the same manner, you will have a hard time getting negative and more often than not, close a car deal. Energy, Excitment, and Excellence are contagious and if you miss out on it you may miss out on the close. The close is where you make your money! So this is vital and fundamental. I ride my bike to work in the morning so that I can have the energy I need, I'm in a great mood so I'm always excited, and especially when I take a fresh up, because it's a new opportunity and a chance to make a friend and sale. I don't settle for second place ever so excellence is exactly what I aim for always. 

I had no clue six weeks ago what I was getting into, and now, I've found a career. I aim to be a leader and a rockstar.

Welcome to the industry.  It is refreshed to watch you get excited about the opportunity.  This is a great industry and with the right time and energy invested you can grow rapidly.

Braden, you have to of the hardest commodities to come by in this business - energy and a great attitude!  When you combine energy and a great attitude with skill and experience, you will be a rockstar my friend!  One of the most common mistakes made by new salespeople usually occurs after their first 90 days on the job.  That's typically the point in time where salespeople start to think they have this business figured out.  They stop listening as closely to their managers and begin skipping steps in the sales process.  Their sales begin to fall and they can't understand why.  Don't fall into this trap!  Keep listening to your managers and sharpen your ax every day.

Congrats! Work on 4 skill sets - sales, people, life & marketing. Read, listen to Audios etc. Bombard your brain. Immediately implement a marketing & prospecting plan to bring business and a continual personality based follow up and referral program. You can remove yourself from the floor traffic heroin in two years or less. Attitude, Attitude, Attitude
