I have recently been the subject of discussion due to my unwillingness to disclose pricing on our dealership website (used cars). The argument was due to an email that was received asking if we were that embarrassed of our pricing? This was on my brain all day yesterday after two days of intense VW product training this was the last thing I wanted to stu on. I spent the most part of this morning researching our hit statistic on our cobalt site and I believe 100% of all dealers would be quite shocked of my findings?....So my question to all is, do you think that disclosing a price is going to sell that car for you or will it just soothe that one customer that most anybody would rather not deal with?

So your saying to not put pricing on craigslist will heed better results?.. I never would have suspected that.. Have you experimented with that?... Andy

Also we will get you 8,000 to 10,000 web veiws!
Not every store is alike, sometimes it may take two or three to tweak the area to get great results!
75% of our stores getting 30 to 35 phone ups a day, we have one thats been on 3 weeks and getting 6 to 15 a day,we will have them up to 30 phones a day if the dealer is willing to work on a solution with us at no cost to the dealer!

Why not put the price in advertisements?
You must have pricing at some point, When your cars are on autotrader.com or cars.com you will miss some leads without a price, customers will look up price range 10,000 to 14,000 and they will find your cars in that price range.
I love craigslist and the reason why? there is less compeition! where with autotrader.com and the others they only post your car once and your competing with 4000 cars alike. Craigslist 85% percent of people looking for a used car go there first and look for one owner cars, wouldn't you! also when a customer goes to Craigslist they might type in 10,000 car or 10,000 F150 and your cars posted without a price will all show up! So when they call in for a price be ready to sale the appointment and not the car over phone.
The other sites like autotrader.com and cars.com if a customer types in 10,000 to 13,000 price range on a F150 and yours is priced at 13,495 your OUT and they might never see your F150,
Trust me the one thing I know is Used Cars !
So be ready for tons of phone ups if your posting your cars 80 to 130 times a day like we do. The only reason you won't do great will be lack of phone training and we can handle that for you too!
Call me anytime for a demo on our Program!

Thank you for your input and kind words Manny, and I do appreciate your offer to help me sell some more cars; however - right now I have all of the business I can handle.

Respectfully,

Tobias.

Many of our states require that if you advertise a price anywhere you honor it whether it is asked for or not. I respect this, as I do business in the manner I would like to be dealt with as a consumer. If the last several years have shown us anything, it is you must at least be competitively priced in your market on the internet.
If you think your customers are not comparing your inventory with your competitors you are burying your head in the sand my friend. Last month I ran 3768 a copy, however about 800 of that was in under allowance of trades, not in my selling price. I have found if you can justify your price, and justify a trade, the customer feels they are more in control. Lets face facts, winning is not important, perception is.
God Bless, and happy selling....

Great post!
Some auto groups that sell there car at the ad price even if the customer did not come in on it!
Joe Meyers Toyota with the Van Tyle group Is one of he dealers that do it and they sell 400 used cars a month. They have a great team at their store.

I don't know if I can speak for most shoppers, but if something has no price listed I keep looking until I can find what I am looking for with a price. Customers all love getting a deal. Would it be too difficult to list the "Blue Book" value then Your Price? I think you might find that you are going to start getting more calls on your ads..
Just a suggestion.
