Who is the Next Big Automotive Trainer?

For those of us who have been in the automotive business for more than 30 years certainly have heard of Zig Ziglar, Joe Girard, and Jackie B. Cooper. For those of us who started in the automotive business within the last 10- 20 years have heard of Dave Anderson, Jim Ziegler, David Lewis,Grant Cardone,Tom Stuker and Joe Verde, Alan Ram.

But now with social media in full swing and the Internet being able to give every one of us a louder voice, who in your opinion is the next BIG up and coming automotive trainer that will be synonymous with the names mentioned above? If you are going to comment, please consider these 4 questions in your reply:

1. Who is the person?

2. Why do you feel they will be the next "great one"?

3. Which industry trainer have you learned the most from?

4. Who else, other than an industry trainer, has influenced you the most in your automotive career? (friend, parent, manager, teacher, etc)

The next up and coming trainer will be someone we all have not heard of yet, It will be someone who combines all the practical old school in with all the social media and puts it all in one context that every new salesperson can and will understand.

I’d LOVE LOVE LOVE to see a name like…..Chris Saraceno!  What about that guy?  Talk some sense into him people:-)  On a serious note: I think thats what i would very much love to see sometime!

1 & 2. No offense but there are a million social media 'experts' saying the same thing, in different ways so I don't see that making a difference in who is the next big trainer. In my opinion, the next bit trainer will surface once they do one, or both, of the following: Actually deliver 'new' info instead of the same info in different ways OR they're delivering the same solid information in a way that is more captivating than Cardone. Until then, Grant and Joe (Verde) are the most solid two in my thoughts.

3. Which industry trainer have you learned the most from? Sales process wise, Cardone but Prospecting & Follow Up wise, Verde.

4. Who else, other than an industry trainer, has influenced you the most in your automotive career? My grandmother. When I started in the car business she said: "Don't let them turn you into a liar" and that really hit me. I realized that her opinion, like many folks, was to assume the worst of our industry. This helped me really focus on learning how to be a consultant so I could serve my customers better than anyone else in my area. And Tony Robbins, because he is one of the most dynamic communicators I've ever seen.

Perhaps it would be presumptuous of me to predict myself as the next Big Automotive Trainer and while I have some big things cooking, I will say Tim Kintz of the Verde Training group has BIG upside. Tim has been the keynote speaker at NADA a couple times and is an excellent presenter with great experience. Check him out.

Grant still has his pulse on what’s going on right now, he is up to date on social media and as everyone knows uses it constantly. He keeps his product fresh and interesting; I think he will be very relevant for many years to come. If you are looking for good insight on social media check out Gary Vaynerchuk read two of his books they were very good. http://garyvaynerchuk.com/

My answer may not fit the guidelines of your question but it might better fit the answer as far as the next generation of sales trainers is concerned. Technology based training systems that provide instant access to product information and step by step support in processes delivered on an iPad to green pea and professional sales consultants in real time throughout the sales process promise to change the role of sales trainers in the future.

The surviving iconic sales trainer will be more motivational and perhaps more focused on people skills vs. product or process. Consultations on networking, family and career counseling and even recommendations on the next best technology based selling tools might differentiate the best from the rest.

If pressed for a name of an individual that is already in the space I would probably "vote" for Grant Cardone since he is the most diverse in his network messaging and focused on motivational messages vs. the ABCs of selling. His high profile in the media and social networking places him in the right consumer centric space as well as the auto industry.

Finally, in an attempt to fit your outline better, number 4 would be my friends on Dealerelite. Their ongoing support and contributions to my thirst for knowledge have helped me to listen and learn from like, indeed professionals so I can presume to continue to teach.

After all, what are friends and Dealerelite for! See you al at NADA!
