David - Thank you for defining your 4 steps to sales success by debunking several of the questions too many of us were trained to ask customers up front. My personal experience is that the timing of WHEN you ask a question and the tone of HOW you state that question are very important in the sales process. Your concept of not asking questions that either encourage the customer to lie, or result in an undesirable answer makes a lot of sense to me.

At least you say how you teach without any fear. Some dealers qualify customers as far as what the customer can afford up front before showing them a car. . It's called buying power. Some dealer don't let sales reps spend two hours with a customer only to find out they are on to much car and then go to another dealer and buy a cheaper car. Other dealers will get the credit info up front  to see if the customer needs to be put on another car to get financed. You have to ask certain questions in order to work a deal like how much do they owe on there trade in order to work payments. It is how you ask the questions in order to get the info in a positive way. I have seen this work both ways.

Great vid buddy...

Here are my four:

1) Treat the customer with dignity and respect.

2) Let them know that you have their best interests at heart. "We want you to get a fair deal."

3) Become their "friend in the car business."

4) Always be honest.

Nice post...
