Sexiest Women...really?

I am so irritated by Digital Dealer's "Sexiest Women" issue. This type of rating system sets the industry back twenty years. We might as well be working at Hooters! Anyone else find this offensive?…Continue

Great question and not an easy one to answer. Simply put... It depends. The reason I say that is because it really does depend on who you are, who you work for, your role in the industry and what your personal/professional goals are. Ultimately I feel woman can have an edge anytime you are in a male dominated business. But the only way you will develop that edge is to work hard, enjoy what you do, be incredibly tenacious and never try to fit into the "boys club".

I have met some of the most amazing and talented women in the car business. With that said, I feel we need to do a better job networking together as well as start encouraging other women to work in the industry.

My final words... For those women out there that feel the need to encourage stereotypes of women who are hard as nails and difficult or the other end of the spectrum of those who flirt their way to a modest career. Please stop it! You making it more difficult for those of us who truly love our chosen profession.

Comment by Suzanne Lucas 1 day ago Delete Comment I guess it depends on which perspective you are looking at. From the female salesperson towards the customer, I think it is a big advantage. Again, where you are in the country can make a difference. There is always the "boys club" but once you prove yourself you can overcome thoseperceptions. Of course there is always a choice made if you have to raise a family and work these dealership hours. Many women aren't comfortable with making the choice between the family or the automotive career. What area are you specifically looking for thoughts on?

It is a pleasure to be a part of your platform. I always like to read success stories of strong woman in the car business. I have been in the car business since 1986. I love Madonna and all the crazy things we do in the business. It has been an eventful and uplifting career. I wouldn't want it any other way. One of my recommendations, "never take no for an answer"!

I have held every position in the car business, sales, sales management, finance and general management. I founded Chernek Consulting, Inc in 2001 and provide my flagship workshop, "Closing Tools and Mastering Menu Sales". I also provide in-dealership consultation to get all those managers on the same page.

It will be a pleasure to provide feedback and insight for your group!
