Original Article is Above

When I received an email invitation from Alignable, I pushed it aside and tagged it to “look at later”. I figured it was another trendy hopeful like Foursquare or Myspace that would become the next footnote in the social world and given this I figured, “why even bother?”

On a rare day when I had a little extra time on my hands, I decided to do a mini-probe and see what this was all about. I was impressed, for a newer social media platform, they really had their act together. Well laid out, easy to manage, and has a great outlet for Q&A.

Let’s do this, I thought to myself, and I signed up and started setting my profile up. Simple, elegant, and quick… I liked it but wasn’t 100% sold just yet. It was the first date, and though I was impressed I still felt that my time was spend better elsewhere.

We’ve all had that old dating partner, the one we’ve know for years, who can be distant and full of themselves at times, but remains familiar and safe and keeps you from wanting to make a change. Well, my old partner was LinkedIn. LinkedIn had me hooked, and I simply couldn’t let go. We’d been dating since 2003 and over the years had changed and grown together. I flirted with Alignable, similar to my sporadic dates and occasional text with Facebook and Twitter. It wasn't like LinkedIn and I were exclusive, especially with all the other players in the field.

Like most old flames, my relationship with LinkedIn eventually went sour, and a breakup became apparent.

What was I to do? I needed a business platform. I needed a way to voice my concerns, to connect with like-minded businesses, and to hopefully show my knowledge and abilities to a solid business community.

As I looked at my options, no others came as close to Alignable.

As I really dug in and deepened my knowledge of this potential partner, I found what I was looking for. Not only did I find my perfect match, but I realized that Alignable was way better than my former partners in every single aspect. I completely severed my ties with LinkedIn, and decided to go full throttle with Alignable, and here is what I found:

Business Focus? 100%

Getting Slammed with Offers? Not Going to Happen

Strong Forum with a good balance of rules and freedom? BAM!

Community Support? Yes, for your contacts and yes for your actual community of businesses

A platform really focused on helping members succeed? It's there and in multiples!

But here is the real beauty of Alignable, the secret sauce, if you may, is that it will best serve you and your business if you serve it….

Much like a relationship, it really is exactly what you put into it. Alignable is the perfect business companion, eager to become your best place to connect, learn, and grow… but it will not budge until you show what you are willing to give also, which I love. You have to put in the work, once you do, you’ll see the benefit.

On Alignable you have three basic areas to work in:

- My Network: here is where all your connections and potential connections are

- My Community: this is your drill down for local

- Q&A Forum: Both the overall nationwide Forum as well as a local Forum option

Here’s a bit more detailed information about how I use the three of them…

My Network

Definitely get to know this one. This is where you can look for the type businesses that you want to connect with. Like industries, complementary industries, businesses that can help you and businesses that you can help. Make it a great mix.

I also personally try to look for people that are active on the site, it just makes good business sense to search for ones that will provide great content for you and you can do likewise.

My Community

This is a great resource for what is going on most current within your scope, the larger your network the better this is.

Q&A Forum

By far my favorite portion of the site because my partifiation here has given me the greatest return. In the Forum, you can do nationwide or your local area. Nationwide is good for most questions. Local is best if you need a recommendation for a local vendor (florists, plumber, web designer, etc) as well as to talk about anything that is specific to your town (for example: parking issues, local legislation, town robberies, etc).

In a similar vein to the Q&A Forum you also have the Alignable Blog ( a great resource to both consume and share longer form advice) and the Brand Ratings section. Pro Tip: I recommend reading the brand rating page for any new brand you’re considering using. You can get some great idea as to whether it will work for you just by reading people's responses.

On the actual Forum piece: there are so many options here.

Ask your own question

Search for existing questions

Offer your answer.

Read other viewpoints

Remember, there is so much to do here. This is YOUR forum, own it…. This is where you can be the expert in what you know. Offer up your knowledge base, don’t hold back, full throttle in. You will find that there is so much you can offer and so much you can learn.

For me. I spend a good hour or so a day, searching, answering and getting to know my community. It has enriched my business life and has opened a lot of doors. Not only has the Forum given me new business and clients but it has also allowed me to do business with people that were way better choices than if I had selected whoever came up with a Google or Facebook search. It is truly a top source of help without all the clutter that is on other sites.

So, how has Alignable worked for me?

My goal is not to “sell” something or make myself look like a guru, or show my business acumen. My goal is to provide the very best I of what I have in me. If I have something to offer, answer to a question, bring insight on situation, or any other positive touchpoint, I provide it. Do I market on Alignable? Of Course, but it is not my main goal. This platform is built for people that want to contribute, build a community of trust and then do business with one another, in that order. Work within Alignable with that in mind, and you will get connections that want the same thing. I love it when my contacts reach out to me and we talk, 80% of the time either I become their client, or they become mine, either way I am happy.

So far, I have been able to secure 6 new clients off Alignable and have 8 more in the pipeline.

In summary, I really feel I have found my home, my main source of business networking and a great learning experience. But you must show the love, to get the love, and you really don’t have to work hard for it. Let your experience with Alignable be a relaxed and enjoyable experience and I am sure everything will flow your way, just like it did/will for that life partner, nothing strained just a natural course to where you should have been all along.

We are offering to deliver 45 - 200+ highly-qualified buyers to your showroom, in the next 30 days, for $100 or less per Up; buyers that have already entered your market to buy, delivered to your dealership after seeing your offer."

"No gimmicks, no BS, just verified buyers, actively looking to PURCHASE a vehicle in your market now...You get a bare minimum of 45 highly qualified buyers in your showroom with our program, in the first 30 days, or we give you your money back...period. (BTW that never happens, not one dealer on our program has dropped off in the last year and a half that it has been available to the Automotive market)

We have dealers on our program that routinely wind up paying less than $35/qualified up, because we send as many buyers to your dealership as we can, for the very same, ridiculously low monthly fee.

To save us both a lot of time: "No, there is no other sales and marketing program in the industry that gives you everything we are going to deliver."

You may think you have been pitched or tried something like our program...bits and pieces in other offerings, maybe, but not this and certainly not with a money back guarantee in writing.

We offer our program on an an exclusive basis by PMA. We protect your dealership and we give you exclusive rights to target in your market.

We get only one real objection to our program: "...this sounds to good to be true."

So, we put our money where our mouth is with a money back guarantee.

Why? because we intend to add 1,500 dealerships to the 100+ dealerships we already have on our program in the next twelve months.

Due to our exclusivity offer and larger dealership groups currently claiming and protecting their markets, we really only have about 1,500 spots left for the the entire US market. Most importantly, you have only one chance to own your market.

One more thing, want us to tell you what dealerships are already on the program? Sorry, no can do. We have STRICT privacy for dealerships on our program. Would you want your competitors or any dealership knowing that you are grabbing ups right off their showroom floor, after they spent thousands of ad dollars to get them there in the first place? We have plenty of verified quotes from dealers on the program with their names removed that you can read...did we mention there is a money back guarantee if we don't deliver as promised?

I found it informative and was able to explain in clear language exactly what the good the bad and the really ugly "Google of Everything" penalties and how they can trip you up. Please read and comment....

Google Penalties Explained & Common Reasons Websites Receive Them (A Complete Guide)

Have you noticed a sudden drop in your website’s position in search results? Or perhaps your website has disappeared from Google altogether?

For a small business owners a sudden change in search engine positions can be very worrying and have a significant impact on business.

Most small businesses that we speak to aren’t aware of the reasons why Google issues penalties to websites, or how indeed to check if they have received one.

This guide will help you to understand what Google penalties are, how to find out if you have one, what causes Google to issue a penalty, and how to recover after receiving one.

Why does Google hand out penalties?

Google are constantly looking for ways to improve their search results. Their mission is to provide users with the most relevant, useful and accurate information on the web. In order to achieve this they regularly make improvements to the way that they rank websites.

For users this is fantastic news, it means that it is much quicker and easier to find the information that you need.

For website owners it can make it a little more challenging to rank highly. In years gone by it was possible to ‘cheat’ your way to the top of Google if you knew how, but current Google guidelines mean that these kinds of techniques can now have a negative impact on your website’s ranking rather than a positive one. Instead, genuine time and effort invested into the quality and usefulness of the content on your website, high quality external links and excellent brand exposure is what will score you brownie points with Google.

In an effort to ensure the quality of its search results Google penalizes websites that it believes to be of low quality or that do not follow its guidelines. If your website has been issued with a penalty from Google you may suddenly notice a drop in its visibility and position in search results.

Types of penalty

There are two different types of Google penalty – Manual and Algorithmic.

Manual Penalty

A manual penalty is issued by Google when they identify something on your site that breaches the Webmaster Guidelines. In the majority of cases, if you are issued with a manual penalty you will receive a direct notification from Google highlighting the reason for the penalty.

Algorithmic Penalty

You will not however, be notified if your website is hit by an algorithmic penalty. An algorithmic penalty may occur shortly after Google makes changes to the algorithm that it uses to rank websites. A couple of Google’s biggest algorithms have been dubbed with names, the Panda update and the Penguin update are the two most significant ones.

Signs that your website may have been issued with a penalty

So how do you know if your website has been hit with a penalty? Here are a few signs to look out for.

You get a notification from Google (this is a sure-fire way to know you’ve been hit with a manual penalty)

Your website stops ranking well for your brand name

You website’s Page Rank suddenly drops to zero

You notice your high positions on search engines dropping away when you’ve not made changes

You can’t find your website anywhere in search results

Top reasons Google penalises websites

Panda Update

Google’s Panda update first made an appearance in early 2011. The update was one of Google’s most significant changes aimed at improving the quality of its search results. The purpose of the update was to crack down on low quality websites and reward websites containing high quality content with better positions.

You may receive a penalty at the hands of the Panda update if your website:

Has duplicate content

Your website should not contain large amounts of text that are duplicated elsewhere on the internet. If Google locates two pieces of content that are the same it is forced to choose which one to display by deciding which is the best, the other page may not even be indexed. Google views duplicate content as less useful than original content.

Ensure that all content published on your website is original. You can check that your content is not being used elsewhere on the internet using a tool like Copyscape.

Contains poor quality or thin content

If you haven’t spent much time perfecting or updating the text on your website then Google will be able to tell. Web pages that contain very little content often provide little value to visitors.

Make sure that each of the pages on your website contains at least 250-300 words of unique and valuable content. Keep the text on your website regularly updated and highly relevant, eliminating unnecessary or badly performing pages wherever appropriate.

If you need help with the content on your website get in touch with our copywriting team.

Penguin Update

The next Google update to rock the internet was the Penguin update in early 2012. This update to their algorithm aimed to crack down on websites using spammy link building techniques to boost their website’s rankings.

Penguin update 1 AKA Penguin 1.0 on April 24, 2012 (impacting ~3.1% of queries)

You may receive a penalty at the hands of the Panda update if your website:

Contains reciprocal links

Before Google got ‘smart’ and began to distinguish high quality websites from low quality ones they would look at the number of links leading to a website to decide its ‘authority’. During this time many websites were teaming up to provide each other with reciprocal links to gain higher rankings. After the Penguin update the worst offenders found they were hit by a Google penalty for unnatural reciprocal links.

Natural and relevant links to your website are great. But links from large ‘link farms’ will be considered unnatural and could results in a penalty.

Contains excessive use of keywords in link anchor text

Link anchor text is the text that you make clickable when creating a link. If you often use the keywords that you wish to rank highly on Google for as your link anchor text Google may identify this as being ‘spammy’.

To avoid receiving a penalty for this don’t force keywords into your link anchor text, try to vary your link anchor text and use hyperlinks naturally throughout your text.

Manual Penalties

Manual penalties are issued by Google if they deem your website to be breaching any of Google’s Webmaster Guidelines.

If you receive a manual penalty from Google they will notify you in Google Webmaster Tools. The notification will inform you of why you’ve received a penalty and what effect it may have on your website. Some penalties will have more impact than others.

There are two types of manual penalty; partial match and site-wide penalties.

Partial match penalties usually only apply to particular pages or links on your website, whereas site-wide penalties can be far more serious as they affect the ranking of your entire website.

You may receive a manual penalty from Google if your website:

Contains unnatural links

Manual penalties are most commonly received because Google suspects that you are creating or obtaining unnatural links to your website in an attempt to boost your rankings.

Unnatural links could be links on your site to other websites (e.g. Reciprocal links) or links on other websites to yours. If you receive a penalty for unnatural links check if it has the phrase ‘impact links’ after it when Google notify you. An ‘impact link’ penalty is less serious as it means Google has taken action to devalue the individual link rather than your entire website.

To avoid receiving a penalty for unnatural links you should first try to get the links removed. If you cannot get them removed, for example, if they’re on a website that you do not own and you cannot contact the owner or they will not remove them, then you can try to disavow them using Google’s disavow tool.

Hacked site

In the unfortunate event that your website gets hacked by a third party Google will apply a manual penalty to avoid the hacked pages from being indexed and to highlight the problem to you.

Keyword stuffing

Another common tactic websites used to use to rank higher on Google was to insert the keywords and phrases that they wanted to rank highly for as frequently as they possibly could in their website’s text content. As you can imagine this rarely resulted in content that was either a pleasure to read, or particularly useful. Google is now advanced enough to recognize when keywords are being used too frequently to be natural and will penalize websites for doing so.

Instead of focusing too much on keywords, focus on creating content that is highly relevant and useful to visitors. The better the quality of your content the higher your web pages should naturally rank.

Responsive Design

Design not mobile-friendly

Google’s recent update, dubbed ‘Mobilegeddon’ means that websites that are not mobile-friendly/responsive will now be at a disadvantage and appear lower in mobile search results. With mobile search now overtaking desktop search and more people making purchases online using mobile devices, it’s become essential to have a responsive website design. Use Google’s mobile-friendly test tool to find out whether or not your website is mobile-friendly.

Poor Website/Bad SEO

If you own an old website that hasn’t been updated regularly then it is likely to have fallen behind with Google’s best practices and could receive a penalty because of this.

Some of the most common reasons outdated websites receive penalties include:

Overusing H1 tags

Your H1 tag is a piece of code containing your web page’s header. They are very important not only for user-experience, but also for telling Google what your page is about. Inserting keywords into your H1 tags, where natural to do so, can be beneficial to your ranking. However if you overdo it Google may flag it as looking ‘spammy’ and hit you with a penalty.

Robots.txt

All websites should have a robots.txt file. The file is used to instruct search engine robots how to crawl and index the website’s pages. It can also be used to block search engines from reading specific pages on the site. If you are using your robots.txt file to block access to too many pages Google may become suspicious and issue you with a penalty.

Over-optimization

Avoid going over the top with your SEO efforts. Google now rewards high quality content, if you’re regularly updating your site with high quality, relevant content then it should naturally improve your rankings. Too much forced or unnatural optimization can result in receiving a penalty from Google. It’s important to strike a fine balance between over and under optimization!

How to find out if you’ve received a Manual Penalty

To find out if your website has been issued with a Manual Penalty from Google login to your Google account as normal and then navigate to Google Webmaster Tools.

Now click on the URL of the website that you wish to check.

On the next page select ‘Manual Actions’ in the ‘Search Traffic’ section. If your website has been issued with any Manual Actions they will now be displayed.

What to do if you are issued with a Google penalty

If you receive a penalty notification from Google or suspect you may have received an automatic penalty, don’t panic!

The effect of a penalty will depend on the type of penalty that you have received. Some penalties will have minimal impact, you may not even notice any difference to your positions; others can have more serious effects.

Remember, even very large and experienced websites get hit with penalties every once in a while. As long as you deal with the issue efficiently and learn from it, then you should be able to rectify any effects of the penalty.

The type of action that you take will depend on the type of penalty that you’ve received:

Bad links

For bad links, first try to get the link completely removed, failing this use Google’s Disavow Tool.

Other penalties

If you receive a notification for a manual penalty or suspect you’ve been hit by an algorithmic penalty first do you research about what the penalty means; then make the relevant changes on your website.

Don’t expect instant results after making changes. You will need to wait until the next time Google crawls your website to see results.

I found it fascinating and was intrigued. I wanted to share in a special post. Everyone please share and give Kipp and I your feedback on this. What are your thoughts? Insights?

The traditional marketing model in which marketers were only responsible for creating a few promotional campaigns per quarter no longer makes sense in today’s fast-paced, digital world.

Today, digital marketers operate on a continuous schedule that matches the hypercompetitive online space in which we operate. Rather than create a few campaigns at a time, we are always publishing content, designing offers, and nurturing leads. As a result, successful online marketers have to analyze and identify ways to optimize their campaigns on the fly.

This means that digital marketers can no longer just be creative, right brain thinkers. Instead, successful online marketing requires a combination of left and right brain thinking -- or "analytical" and "creative" thinking. That synthesis of left and right brain thinking -- of data and content-- truly propels top notch inbound marketing.

The thinkers at HarteHanks have created the infographic featured below to showcase just how significant it is for marketers to be both data driven and creative thinkers in today’s online world.

Interesting Right Brain Data

What You Must Know About Managing Your Reputation

A lot of businesses have learned from experience the importance of a strong reputation. Poor treatment of customers will only hurt your reputation. Keeping that in mind, here are some suggestions about how to do things the right way to gain customers, earn profits and see your company grow.

Optimize your webpages with essential search phrases. Typically, that is simply the name of your business. Google likes authoritative sites. When your site is viewed by them as an authority, your rankings can improve almost immediately.

Be sure you're keeping an eye on social media. Customers expect a reply when they ask you a question through your website or post on social media sites. Therefore, make sure to monitor the comments about your business. Since most businesses are not as vigilant, being responsive will really make you stand out.

Stay current on what is going on in your industry. This will allow you to be sure that you're giving your customers cutting edge information. Take five minutes out of your day to scour the Internet for new information.

Monitor the presence you have online. It is hard to determine if your firm has gotten bad search results or poor reviews online. Check your results to address these issues. Try doing this a couple of times each month.

Never lash out at your clients or employees on the web. Some businesses don't do this, and it hurts their business. This can lead to people not wanting to do business with you.

If you're searching for your company on the Internet and find false information, you should ask the site's owner to take things like that down. If you can prove the information is actually libel, you'll win.

When you're reading things that are negative pertaining to your company, you may want to get angry at the person posting, especially if they're lying a bit. It is best to maintain a level head and address the accusations directly. This will give people the opportunity to understand your side as well as that of the complainer.

If your business made an error that negatively affects your customer base, don't try covering it up. Your customers will figure it out. Admit it, and say that you are sorry. Most times, customers will forgive mistakes, particularly if they get something in return.

Be choosy about the information you share on the Internet. You can never predict how it may be used in the future, so make sure you watch out. Even if you don't take part in much social media, it pays to know exactly all the content that pertains to you.

Offer a guarantee on your service or product. This is key to providing strong customer service. When you allow a customer to make a return, you may lose profits. However, your corporate reputation will be seen as positive.

Without a good reputation, your business will not do well. It will take a long time to recover from a reputation hit. Go forth in a proactive way, and get things taken care of quickly so they don't get out of control. You will impress the customer and increase your reputation.

What You Must Know About Reputation Management

Would you like to have as strong a reputation as the bigger companies? Learn from the larger companies and begin changing one or two things to improve your reputation. Things continuously change and you need to know all you can to manage your reputation.

Be friendly and sociable online. Simply sending out tweets and updating messages is never successful unless you take the time to directly communicate with your consumers. Answer questions and respond to comments in a timely manner. If someone posts a question and you don't have the answer, tell them you don't know but you're working on getting the answer for them.

Try to make an unhappy customer satisfied, and keep your good reputation. Reversing a customer's opinion of you in a positive way is a good way to show them you care. If you can do this online, better yet. This will allow other potential customers to see how you deal with problems, and they will gain more confidence in dealing with you.

Optimize your web pages all with your business' essential search phrases in order to make your online reputation better. It is normal that this would be your company's name. The big search engines favor authority sites. That will ensure that you're ranked highly on search pages.

Keep up with news updates relating to your service or product. This will give you an expert voice with consumers. Take a few minutes out of your day to do some Internet searches so you can get up to date information on the industry your company's in.

A private promotion or deal should always be kept a private matter. This is very important, especially if you get a complaint and then offer a discount to help remedy the situation. One thing to avoid is posting the things you're doing to remedy a customer complaint and then receive more complaints because people want free things.

Regularly perform Internet searches on your own company. If you find misleading information, work to get it taken off the Internet. As long as you can show solid proof that this information is libelous, most site owners will have no problems removing it.

There are companies out there that are trusted and can help you with reputation management. Sometimes it's worth hiring someone to help with this since your plate will likely be full with the other daily dealings of your company. Having some guidance can be very beneficial.

If you happen to see something online about your business that has a very negative slant, it's all too easy to get upset about it, particularly if the information isn't even true. Stay calm when responding and focus on facts. When readers look at both sides of the argument, they can make their own judgment.

Do you feel better equipped to manage the reputation of your company now? Now, you have the tools to make your business reputation soar head and shoulders above the rest of your competition. Continue to work on developing your reputation as your business grows.

What You Should Know About Managing Your Reputation

Solid management of your reputation can result in real business growth. Word of mouth means everything in the business world, and having a great reputation can really impact that word of mouth in a positive way. You will also want to protect your reputation. Keep reading to educate yourself on how to improve your business reputation.

To enhance your reputation, follow through with the customers to be sure they're satisfied. This is particularly true if your business is larger. Your customers want to feel they are important to you. Implement automated systems that will help you check in with them. Make sure you ask them to report in on their recent purchase experiences as well.

Keep up-to-date with any news or information about your service or product. This ensures that you are up to date and looking out for your customers best interests. Take a few minutes each day to run an online search to get the newest facts about the industry you're in.

Watch your online presence. You never can tell when a company might get a negative result on search engines from a dissatisfied client or a person who simply doesn't like you -- or your company. Monitoring search results yourself will help keep you on top of the situation and thus able to put out little fires as they pop up. Try to do this a couple of times per month.

Be certain that your firm's social medial presence is carefully managed. They say a lot about your business. Though injecting some personality is a good thing at times, you should avoid going overboard.

If you have employees, treat them well. Many people do not take this as seriously as they should, and there can be serious consequences. When people think your company treats employees poorly, your reputation can suffer.

A private promotion or deal should always be kept a private matter. This is essential for times when you offer a big discount to address a complaint. You definitely do not want to post your remedy for complaints. If you do, your complaints will skyrocket because people want free stuff.

If you find false information about your company online, ask that webmaster to remove it. As long as you can show solid proof that this information is libelous, most site owners will have no problems removing it.

Keep updated on what social media sites are up to on the Internet. These platforms are often places where companies are discussed. When you spend some time monitoring social media, you can quickly catch any negative remarks about your company and implement effective damage control quickly. It will minimize damage to your reputation.

You need to set reachable expectations based on how you conduct business. This will include being honest with the clients that you have. Transparency is essential to maintaining a good reputation.

There is no wisdom in taking business reputation management lightly. A good reputation is what gets your business ahead of its competitors. It will also help you keep your existing customers. This will help you be profitable. When you're managing your reputation, your business is going to grow.

Why Reputation Management Is Crucial For Any Business

Many new businesses do not make it. There are a lot of contributing factors, but reputation management is often one of them. However, it is important to manage your business' reputation, and you have to focus your diligence correctly.

Always follow up. This is even more true if your business is larger in size. They have to feel like they're mattering to your company. Automated systems can be used for following up. You can also ask them to provide feedback on purchases they have made.

Try your best to be personable when you are online. You have to actively engage your followers in order to make tweets and updates work. If a question is posted, answer it quickly. If you do not know the answer to a question, let them know that you're in the process of getting an answer.

Optimizing web pages by including a crucial search phrase can help with your Internet reputation. In general, this would be the business's name. A majority of search engines will favor authoritativeness. If you're viewed as an authority, your business will move up the search engine.

Constantly monitor the social media networks. Arnold Worldwide says that over half of the customers out there think that brands need to talk back when they're asked a question on social media sites. Try to reply the same day to any inquiries you receive. Many businesses aren't that vigilant, so being responsive can make you stand above the rest.

Treat the employees well at your company. Many business people do not pay strict attention to this area of their business, and in the end it can really do a lot of harm. If people find out you're not a good employer, they may avoid doing business with you.

If you offer some type of promotion or special deal, make sure to be private about that. This rings particularly true when you are discounting to satisfy a complaint. You don't need to post what's going on with a complaint and then receive tons of them demanding free stuff from you.

When searching online for information about your business, and you come across something that is not accurate, ask the site owner to take the information down. A strongly worded email should get most webmasters to remove the information.

Actively search through all social media comments. People talk a lot about businesses on these sites. By keeping up with these networks, you can do your best to catch negative words and start on damage control quickly. That can help protect your company from bad press.

As your business grows, you are going to get more and more customer interaction. This will include complaints that you must address. Furthermore, make sure you address any complaints promptly and properly.

Maintaining your standing within your chosen niche is important to the success of your business. You have to really be in the know about things so you can prevent little issues from ballooning. Use this advice to help you do better when it comes to working on your business reputation.

Businesses that have great reputations attract more customers and produce more sales. Customers will be happy, and they will tell others about their experience with you. Safeguarding your business reputation is necessary for real success. Managing your reputation is crucial; continue reading for some helpful tips.

Always offer great follow up to your customers. It's definitely true if your business is large. They have to feel like they're mattering to your company. Implement automated systems that will help you check in with them. You can also ask them to give comments on recent transactions.

Make sure your reputation stays strong by working to win over a dissatisfied client. Working to better a customer's bad experience will show them that their satisfaction matters. Do this online, as well. Also, it will show that you care about your customers.

Be sure that you have your social media sites run professionally. Such pages demonstrate your business character, so you need to make sure they always show positivity. You can be personable and still be professional.

If you offer a private sale or promotion, keep it private. This tip can be especially important if a deep discount meant to rectify a problem is involved. Complaints will flow in if you offer people incentive to complain.

Know where you customers are likely to be. Visit restaurants or public places that they go to. By going to where your customers go, you will get to know them better and be able to provide quality service. People will feel more relaxed speaking with you in this type of environment.

If you find non-factual information about your company online, consider petitioning the owner of the site. You can have this information removed. If you can show actual proof that it's libelous, many site owners will not take issue with removing it.

Make sure to monitor all social networking sites. Many people talk about businesses on social media. As you monitor these platforms regularly, you get to find negative comments quickly so you can do fast damage control and complaint resolution. That's just one method of protecting your reputation from more damage.

You will receive more responses as your customer base grows. This will include complaints every once in a while, and you have to learn how to address them. Speak in a manner that is businesslike and professional.

When you see something negative in print about your company, it's natural to get angry at the person who wrote the comment, especially if what they commented on wasn't completely truthful. The best approach to take in this situation is to respond with just the facts that show that what was said was not true. Other people will probably recognize the truth if you stay calm.

A business' reputation is not a matter to take lightly. Good reputation is needed to stay ahead of the competition. A good reputation draws customers to your business. This ends up generating greater profits. When you manage your business reputation well, you will see your business grow.

To better your business reputation, make sure you follow up with your customers. This is especially the case if your business is larger. You need to make them feel important. Consider following up with them with automated systems you put in place. Get feedback of your services and goods while you do it.

When it comes to dealing with negative content about your brand online, the best defense is a good offense. Any negative feedback is sure to be lost in a sea of positive feedback, so make sure there is plenty of it. Make sure your content is always fresh so that older, negative things fade to the bottom of search pages.

Pay attention to social media forums. Most consumers expect their comments and questions to be responded to. Reply quickly, at least within a couple hours. If you are more responsive than your competitors, it makes you stand out as superior to them.

Keep up with information about the service or product you provide. This helps ensure you can supply your customers with the latest innovations and information. Take five minutes out of your day to search for the newest facts about the industry you're in.

Look at your presence on the Internet. You can't be sure when a negative review can pop up from someone that doesn't like you, your business, or is just an unhappy customer. If you keep an eye on search results, you can ensure that negative feedback won't be high up in the results. Try doing this a couple of times each month.

Run your business social media accounts in a professional way. You don't want to hire someone to run them without any training since they can give your company a negative reputation. Stay personable, but don't take things personally.

If you own your own business, be sure you're treating employees with some respect. Many business people do not pay strict attention to this area of their business, and in the end it can really do a lot of harm. If it gets around that you are not a great employer, many people will refuse to do any business with you.

When searching online for information about your business, and you come across something that is not accurate, ask the site owner to take the information down. Usually, sites owners will get rid of it if you can prove that the information is false.

Top Tips And Advice Straight From The Experts

Constantly monitor the social media networks. Many consumers expect their questions to be answered on social media websites. Reply quickly and professionally. Since many companies take a while to respond, this will help you stand out.

Run your social media campaigns and websites professionally. Since these pages are a representation of your firm, you must avoid creating any negative impressions. Of course, you want to show some personality, but keep the overall tone professional and businesslike.

Regularly perform Internet searches on your own company. If you find misleading information, work to get it taken off the Internet. If you can show actual proof that it's libelous, many site owners will not take issue with removing it.

Make sure to monitor all social networking sites. People like to talk about companies on these. Keeping a close eye on these sites will help you do damage control as soon as negative comments are posted. By doing this, you'll protect your reputation and keep your business in a positive note.

Work hard to create realistic expectation for doing business. This will include being honest with the clients that you have. You'll develop a good reputation by always being as transparent as possible.

Do not attempt to hide the mistakes you have made. The customers have much more intelligence than that. Freely admit your mistake, and humbly apologize for it. Your customers are much more likely to give you forgiveness, particularly if you offer an extra incentive to compensate for the gaffe.

Follow up with customers a few times after a purchase from you. Sometimes, problems do not occur immediately because a customer may not use a product at first. Communicating with them will allow you to address any problems they may encounter.

When there is a community event, be a corporate sponsor. This is one method for improving the reputation of your firm. You will make a positive impression upon your customers when they see your company donating time and money to a community cause. This type of impression leads to success.

You must know in what places your company is being discussed, and these places have to be monitored.

Local SEO Company does the unbelievable by offering small business owners an iron-clad money back guarantee with their SEO services.

Jon Floyd, a spokesman for St. Louis BizTalk, says that "it is vital for SEO companies to do quality work and at the same time protect the investments of small business owners."

Mr. Floyd decided enough is enough. St. Louis BizTalk, a trusted nationwide local SEO company, is taking the industry by storm in changing how marketing companies do business and are perceived.

"We stand behind our services one hundred percent and have put our money where our mouth is by providing a 90-day money back guarantee. Now businesses can move forward with their marketing goals with a new found confidence."

What use to work by SEO standards is no longer acceptable to all the major search engines. We give Google, Bing and Yahoo what they want and that is good content that is viewable on all devices including smartphones.

St. Louis BizTalk accomplishes this by building mobile-friendly websites which is crucial when you take into consideration that over 52 percent of searches are now done on smartphones and this number grows by the millions each year.

In a former press release, STLBT stated that a website ranked number 1 or 2 in a Google search could possibly fall to the bottom of the page or entirely disappear to a lower page if not mobile-friendly. This in turn could cause a loss of thousands of dollars for a local business which would be disastrous.

And for companies that need a strong presence on the web, St. Louis BizTalk will custom build a website designed for lead generation and then they give the business owner 60 to 90 days of free local SEO services worth approximately $4200 which in essence makes their website purchase absolutely free.

Although the website is easy-to-use and aesthetically pleasing to the eye, it is the blog which oddly enough is the marketing catalyst in dispensing good, quality content to readers who are potential new customers. And this content includes both high authority articles and powerful videos that internet visitors love to watch.

Mr. Floyd ended this interview by saying that they have been inundated with positive responses. When new clients trust you as an SEO company, good things happen for these local businesses. They receive a good lead generation system which brings them new buyers all the while protected by our 90-day money back guarantee.

"It feels good to offer this exclusive service to one business niche in each city and know that our clients can go to bed at night feeling good about their decision as we help them grow their business the right way."

One of the big problems that a lot of my clients have when they are just starting out in internet marketing, is how to create publicity and get customers without spending money that they simply do not have. People in this position look on with envy as other marketers talk about their average spend on advertising, and which paid methods yield the best results. So here are some ideas for getting publicity for your business and customers for your shopping cart, while spending as little as possible.

Press Releases

Look at your business and think about what you have actually done. Perhaps you have started up a business which has no competition in your local area – you are the first. Or perhaps you have boosted your start-up venture by using crowdfunding. Both of these events will make great core stories for a press release that you can write and distribute online for news sites and other media to pick up and report on, thus giving you free and widespread publicity.

There are many more things you have done and will do that will make great press releases – whenever you interview someone or are interviewed by someone, you can create a press release about it. Whenever you have enough data about your site visitors to say something interesting about them, you can put out a press release about how customers who buy one product also buy another item (especially if the two products are not ones that you would usually link together). Press releases are easy and can be free, although you can also pay for increased syndication.

Event Hosting

If I told you that there was a way that you could get to meet your target market for lunch and they would pay for it all, wouldn’t you be interested? Of course you would. Well, there are several ways that you can do this and make sure that you benefit from it every time while also ensuring that your target market get what they want too.

‘Dating Dinners’. This is where you invite two separate types of people to meet together who have complementary interests. For example, entrepreneurs who want to meet investors, and investors looking for entrepreneurs to invest in. The advantages to both parties are obvious, and the organiser gets the benefit of mixing with a large group of influential people who probably would not be so interested in meeting up for lunch with just the organiser. They would come to meet the other influential people, you would create a reputation for yourself as an important influence in your target market, and your list of business contacts would be the envy of all the businesspeople in your area, and also online.

Seminars or Workshops

If you organized an event where people paid to be in the room while a series of experts shared their wisdom, you would create very similar successful results to the method above. At events such as these, attendees pay not just to be taught by experts, but also for the amazing opportunities to mingle and network during breaks and at mealtimes.

A few resources For You:

http://www.thebusinessjournals.com/: You can post in "People On The Move" and send a press release, and can focus on your locations.

http://www.meetup.com/: Great place to join and create a meet-up group. Get involved in discussions and meetings. The discussions you can do online and if you are helpful and offer great service, clients will be yours.

So there you have a few great ideas for boosting your internet marketing on a budget. Any of these ideas can be implemented in your business straight away and at little or no cost to you.

The Importance of Building an Email List

If you are business owner, then you know that the number one thing required for a successful website is traffic. Without traffic you will not be able to make sales. So the big question becomes how do you get visitors to come to your website?

There are many ways to optimize your web pages to attract traffic. Good SEO is important, and if you are not familiar with SEO you should check into it. You can also use forum marketing, Facebook marketing and other social platforms to promote your site. Once you have visitors, however, it is important to hold on to them however you can. That is why the importance of building an email list is understood by so many successful business people.

Of course once you have visitors to your website, it is important to have informative and compelling material there to make them want to come back. If they don't like what they see, even an email list will probably not help you to get return traffic.

On the other hand, people who like what they read on your site will want to know what you have to offer next. If you provide them with a way to sign up for an email list it will not be hard to get people to join. Some businesses offer a free gift to anyone joining their email list, and that is not a bad idea. For instance, one website about dog training offers a free e-book filled with tips about how to get a dog to do basic tricks such as roll over, sit, stay and sit up. Find something in your own niche to use as an inducement to join your list.

Once you have set up an email list it is important that you use it. Your subscribers should get used to getting one to two emails from you each week. Remember, though, that they are not subscribing in hopes that you will try to sell them something. They are subscribing because they want more information and they think you will provide it. So most of your emails should contain just that --- information. It is okay to provide a link to something at the end of your email, but it should not be the focus.

Also, don't fall into the bad habit of asking a question or posing a lot of problems only to force your readers to buy something to get the answers. I don't know about you, but when I get emails like that I quickly hit the “unsubscribe” button. It is alright to present a resource, but questions asked in your email really should be answered.

People will join your email list because they want to believe in you. Don't let them down. Don't abuse their faith in you. You can drive a lot of traffic to your website through an email list. Just make sure that the information you send your subscribers is information they want and are seeking. Once your traffic is flowing you will better understand the importance of building an email list.

LOS ANGELES — If your website traffic plummets suddenly Tuesday, you can blame it on “Mobilegeddon.”

Google, which dominates online search, is launching an algorithm to favor sites that are “mobile-friendly.” This means that people who use Google to search on their smartphone may not find many of their favorite sites at the top of the rankings. Sites that haven’t updated could find themselves ranked way lower, which in turn could mean a huge loss of business.

Search giant Google, which comScore Media Metrix estimates has a 65% market share of U.S. Internet searches, wants sites to load quickly and be easy to navigate on a mobile phone.

Google is doing this because it wants consumers to “find content that’s not only relevant and timely, but also easy to read and interact with on smaller mobile screens,” Google said in a statement.

The update will not affect results from desktop searches.

Google’s last big algorithm update, code-named Panda, impacted “11% of all search results,” says Danny Sullivan, the editor of the SearchEngineLand website. “It was a big shake-up, and this one could be even more dramatic.”

California Pizza Kitchen fails the Google Mobile-Friendly test (Photo: Screenshot)

A website ranked No. 1 or No. 2 in a search query could hypothetically fall to ninth or 10th place, causing a loss of thousands of dollars in potential business, says independent analyst Greg Sterling.

In 2012, Demand Media posted a $6.4 million loss in an earnings report, and blamed the loss on changes to Google’s Panda update, which removed the firm from top spots.

Just over half of all searches done on Google are now performed through mobile devices, says Sullivan, a number that continues to grow, as more folks transition to spending more and more time on smartphones.

(Sullivan’s website came up with the term “Mobilegeddon” in March, a play on a recent Los Angeles mini-crisis called “Carmeggedon,” when freeways were closed for several weekends.)

Worried about your website? Google has a “Mobile-Friendly” test page in its developer section. Just type in the URL and see if it passes. The URL: https://www.google.com/webmasters/tools/mobile-friendly/.

USA TODAY tested many top brands with the tool Monday, and came up with many that passed the test — and many that didn’t. Companies that need to update their sites quickly included restaurant chains California Pizza Kitchen and Coco’s, fashion icon Versace, candy manufacturer Sees and European airline Ryanair, according to Google.

Website TechCrunch found that 44% of the Fortune 500 companies failed the mobile friendly test.

Overall, “as many as 40% of top websites are not currently mobile-friendly,” says Sterling. “There’s a big category of people who have completely ignored mobile.”

Finally, if you’re a small business and can’t get this done by Tuesday, no need to panic, says Sterling.

Most local businesses are found these days, not via their website, but through directory services like Yelp and Google’s local search listings.

“You typically go to Google and look up car repair, for instance,” he says. “The local listings show up first, not usually the website.”

So his advice to the small business owner is to make sure all your local information is current and up-to-date in Yelp and on Google’s MyBusiness section.

“They still need to update their website, but this buys them time,” he adds.

ST. LOUIS BIZ TALK BLOG COMMENTARY

Google is releasing their new mobile friendly update on April 21st, 2015.

As many SEO companies will agree, it’s unprecedented for Google to pre-announce a big algorithmic change like this, but Google did so in order to give publishers ample time to make their web sites mobile friendly.

The mobile-friendly update will potentially give a ranking boost to mobile-friendly pages in Google’s mobile search results and will eventually penalize those who do not make their website mobile-friendly.

SOLUTION: There was one point made in the preceding article that we agree with and that involves local businesses buying out the opportune time by getting their business information in local directory listings such as Yelp and Google’s local business search listings.

This is now imperative as local listings show up before organic rankings and will help local businesses who already rank and really help those wanting to rank. And please make sure your listings are up-to-date.

There is no time to waste as rankings will start going down over the next few weeks if your site is not mobile-friendly.

Twitter is a social networking and micro-blogging service that has about 248 million active users as of 2014. When using this program, people send short messages, better known as “tweets”, which can be read both by followers (or people who also have Twitter accounts) as well as those who are not registered users. Individuals and businesses alike use this to communicate short messages, send images and best of all, use as a promotional tool. The average user spends 170 minutes on twitter daily, with an average number of followers per user of over 200.

The stronger your Twitter presence is, the stronger chances they have of expanding their customer base. Very mobile friendly and this very accessible to your potential and current clients.

Here are five tips on branding your business with Twitter:

Get access to like-minded brands immediately. When you sign up for an account, there is a feature that will match you with individuals and businesses, based on keywords that you provide. Once you are established and follow these brands, potential followers will see this association and request to follow you.

Communicate information and updates about your company quickly. Because some people do not have the time to access their blog or website, by posting the information to Twitter, it can go live instantly.

Promote your brands and services. Your blog posts, web site or anything online related to your company can be forwarded to many when you click the Twitter or “Tweet Me” icon. You can tweet text, streaming video images and more.

Use your company name in your Twitter name. This advice applies to all your social media accounts. Use your company name in the Twitter account name, so that people searching for your company name can find your Tweets from search engines.

Use the Twitter background to further brand your business. The background image can and should include your web site URL, URLs to your other social media properties, and even your Unique Selling Proposition.

Now that you’ve set up a blog, you need to post to the blog regularly. Search engines love sites with fresh and frequently updated content. A blog is a great way to provide the search engines with fresh content. But more importantly, the visitors to your blog will want to see new content on a regular basis. New content will keep your visitors coming back. The days are gone when a blog was simply a personal journal. These days, visitors want to be informed and entertained, they don’t want to know what you ate for breakfast.

If your blogging for business purposes, then the best content for your blog will be posts about the business. You don’t need to simply post about any special promotions or new products. Let your visitors know about your company. Certainly you can, and certainly should, post about your products and services. But let people know about your company, and its history. You can post about the history of your industry, and let people know more about that. Write a few posts about yourself, and key employees within your company. A blog is a good way to let your customers get to know you.

A blog may also be used to simply inform visitors about a particular topic. In this case, your posts should obviously be about the topic. But keep the posts entertaining. It would be a good idea to not only make informative posts, but also post news stories, and opinions about your topic. For example, if your blog is about dog training, you can post about other dog related news, and not just dog training. In this example, your visitors may very well be interested in news about dog shows, or your opinions. Try to vary your posts, to maintain interest in your blog. Look for what you are good at, have experience in, and can talk about extensively.

Hot news stories are also a good subject for blogs. There is always news happening somewhere, from the local level on up to the global level. You may choose to post news from a certain level. You can keep it local, or post national news, or any other region. You may choose to post news stories on a specific topic, politics, or the economy for example.

With a news blog, you can keep it strictly objective, and just post the stories, or you can also post your opinions. Just keep in mind that some news topics can be extremely controversial, and you may get some very heated discussions on your blog. This can be a good thing, or a bad thing, it’s up to you to decide if you want that on your blog.

Auto Dealers, Medical Professionals, Lawyers, HVAC, Plumbers, Electrical, Roofers, Non-Profits and many other businesses have benefited from NAB getting them seen and respected in their community.
Are you using YouTube and Pinterest to promote your online business? If not, then you are missing out on some very easy traffic. Both of these sites have the ability to deliver thousands of visitors to your site each week. All you have to do is use them correctly.

The reason social media sites have become so popular for Internet marketers is because of the viral energy they create. Have you ever gone into YouTube and watched a video --- and then noticed that it has had over a million views? It is not uncommon. How does that happen?

Well, any time someone uploads a YouTube video onto their Facebook site and someone watches it, that is reported back to YouTube and listed as one view. If the video is entertaining and all of your friends turn around and paste it onto their Facebook pages, and then their friends see it and do the same thing --- well, you can see how quickly the effect can explode.

Imagine one viewer produces two; two produce four; four produce eight; eight produce sixteen, sixteen produce 32, ---- in a matter of no time you are in the hundreds of thousands! You do the math.

But what kind of videos get that kind of viral movement? Obviously they have to be videos that are funny, entertaining, newsworthy or shocking.

Now imagine you put together a little video about your dog training site using a Windows program. If the video is nothing but slides about how to train a dog, your video is not going to be passed around. But what if you have a video about teaching a dog to dive off a high drive --- and he does it! Do you think that might get passed around? How about a cute little puppy who refuses to give back his master's slipper and keeps running away and trying to hide it? Videos like that can be golden!

The same is true of Pinterest, although Pinterest features still photos more than videos (although you can load videos onto Pinterest). These pictures can be seen by millions of people. The viral effect comes when someone sees your picture (called a pin) and repins it to one of their boards. The viral effect can be astounding --- and each time the picture is repinned, a link to your site goes along with it!

Because most Pinterest users are women, the pins that get repinned the most deal with fashion, recipes, children and entertainers. Also high on the list are decorating tips. If you work in those niches, you can expect a lot of help from Pinterest. But even if you don't, if you can find one of those subjects and still have it relate to your niche, it work very well.

Using Pinterest and YouTube are great ways to get more traffic to your site. More traffic means more sales --- so don't overlook these two great resources.

No one likes a brash or pushy salesperson. I know that when I go to buy a car I don't want someone who plays all types of pushy sales tricks on me. In fact I will walk away from a dealership if that is the kind of sales people they employ. Instead, I want someone who will answer my questions and provide me with information. It is the same in Internet marketing --- there is a difference between marketing and selling.

Have you ever joined an email list only to be instantly barraged by a long list of sales pitches? I joined one list because I thought I could get some helpful information. Instead I started getting two to three emails a day, each with a link to a new product on the Warrior Forum! In each email I was told the sender had used this product and it made them a lot of money. Many of the products were brand new! I unsubscribed quickly!

Marketing does just what the name implies --- it sets up a market. For instance, let's say that you are very skilled at producing profitable Squidoo lenses. Perhaps you have written a book, or have put together a video series, about how you make Squidoo lenses that make money. That is a valuable product.

Now it is time to market the product. A good way to do that is to introduce people to Squidoo. Explain how Squidoo lenses work. Show them some examples of lenses that are making money. Explain how much money can be made and how many people are actually making a living with Squidoo.

If I was looking for a way to make money online and I read information like that I would be very interested, wouldn't you? You might further explain that anyone can learn how to build money-making Squidoo lenses just like you did. Tell them if they are willing to put forth the time and effort that they can be successful, too.

Then you might bring up that you have put your tricks and tips into a presentation that will perhaps save them the time and headaches you went through. Don't push too hard and don't say they HAVE to have your product to make money. They don't. You want to offer your product as a time-saver for them. You want to help them.

It's always a good idea when you are presenting a how-to product that you conclude by saying something like, “if you choose to do it on your own, I wish you the best of success. Others have learned on their own and you can, too. If you run into problems along the way, remember my product is here as a resource to help you.”

I hope this article has helped you to better understand how to market a product. People buy products when you properly market them. They will be turned off by products that are shoved down their throats in high pressure sales presentations. Best of luck to you in your marketing endeavors!

The first thing I would say is read the book called the "E-myth" by Michael Gerber. http://www.michaelegerbercompanies.com/about-michael/bio/

Secondly you have to organize your systems around departments:

marketing systems: the way you acquire new customers

sales systems: the strategies you use to convert those customers

fulfillment systems: how you develop and deliver your products and services

administration systems: how you run your business in the backend

Then every time you do something more than once (which likely happens every day in the beginning) such as "creating a new post on wordpress" write down the steps in a text only process sheet, using a list/bullet point format (e.g. "step 1, do this, step 2, do that, etc.).

It really starts with baby steps. First try to build a viable business model that is profitable, and once you have that you can start building the system to support your business.

Blame Google, a panda and a penguin, and your mother-in-law if you want. But the fact is this...Good Solid Content has become king.

'Panda' became the codeword for the changes in their ranking algorithms by which they ranked sites using texts and the keywords found on individual pages. What this basically meant was that a page with lots of text that included the keywords a person was looking for would rank high in the search results. Sounds logical, but it backfired.

People would take advantage of that system and place large amounts of keywords on their sites. Someone selling used cell phones for example would put the words "used cell phones" hundreds of times on a single page, on many pages. Another popular way of cheating became scraper sites. By scraping the web, they would basically steal content and copy it, creating duplicates. Then ads would be included. These sites could be created automatically by the thousands and would mislead first the search engine and second the visitor who would then click on the ads, giving the scrapers revenue.

Google quickly grew wise to that and adjusted panda again. They now looked for complete articles and would ignore the obvious cheaters and duplicators. However, soon spun content appeared, meaning a program would develop a nonsensical article that included the keywords. Since the Google search spiders are only robots, they wouldn't know the difference between actual articles and a spun one.

Recently Google changed their policy again, this time bringing artificial intelligence into the fold. They would use and study human test subjects while they surfed sites and ranked them by quality, trustworthiness, speed, design and so on. Panda's learning algorithm would pick up on the similarities these test people found and could so learn to recognize spun from real articles, bad sites from good sites, low quality from high quality.

September 2012 a penguin came along. Together with a new panda update, this new Google algorithm declared war on sites violating their webmaster guidelines. Fake articles, link schemes, keyword stuffing, scraper sites and other black-hat practices are now being recognized and ignored.

Thanks to the panda and the penguin, Google now only respects sites that are legit. That means that in order to get a good ranking a site needs to have genuine information on the subject it tries to advertize. Or at the very least genuine content that contain the keywords written by real flesh-and-blood writers. The more real articles and blog posts with keywords, the higher the respect and the higher the ranking. Videos are becoming a large part of that content also.

This has created the need for webmaster and site owners to update their sites with content. Lots of it. While it is more work and expenses for the webmasters and writers, it is a very fair arrangement for the end user.

After all, all we want to do is to type in a keyword and get a decent answer....

A few years ago Internet Marketing was pushed as the next big thing, and now it is pushed as the ONLY thing. It is supposed to be the land where perceptive entrepreneurs, single moms and teenagers are able to make millions with just an idea, businesses will flourish automatically, and customers will be scrambling for their product or service. I am here to tell you that it takes more than just an idea and more than just hard work to be successful at Internet marketing. Marketing on the Internet is a skill that takes time to develop. It is not a skill like learning how to play the guitar but it is a mental skill, where you have to recognize marketing opportunities and how to interact with your customer base online.

You have to learn how to think about marketing and how it applies to the internet. There are also key concepts that you must understand such as chasing traffic, marketing to people when they want to buy and creating rapport with your audience.

Before you start an internet marketing campaign, you need to know who your ideal customer is. What do have for sell, where do people who need your product hangout on the internet, and what problems do they have?

Before you can make one penny from the internet, you need to know the answer to those questions.

Next you need to know what internet marketing is because it really is just an umbrella term. Online marketing can be video marketing on YouTube, it can be social media based marketing via LinkedIn, Twitter, Facebook, Pinterest or any combination of those with sprinkling of a dozen or two more.. Online marketing is also search engine optimization and trying to drive people to your site via articles and link building.

Online marketing can also be paying for ad space via Google Adwords or buying banner on websites. You can even buy ads on LinkedIn, Twitter, Facebook, etc. Internet marketing composes of all of these different places and style of marketing. You can try them all or maybe should specialize in one form of marketing.

There is a ton of money to be made on the Internet but it is far from easy. It is my opinion that some of the best Internet marketing is using it a long with your other traditional media to build your brand and build a relationship with your customers. When consulting with businesses, we always discuss all media and how it will interact with everything else, holistic approach to your marketing and sales will make you stand out from the rest of pack, and give you more bang for your marketing buck.

What is different about today's consumer should reflect in your marketing strategy. Today's consumers are more knowledgeable, they have Google, Yahoo, and Bing and they are mobile. Within grasp at all times is their ability to learn everything about your product or service, you have to engage them to capture their wants, needs, and loyalty.

People are more likely to buy from people they trust and I believe that is the most important thing that we have to remember about Internet Marketing. We have all these outlets to use to build rapport such as social media and few companies are using them in the right way.

In closing, Internet marketing forces you to change the way you think about customer and business relationships. Companies and individuals who can create trust will make the most money and will have more repeat customers. There are many facets to Internet marketing from article writing, to paying for ads, to social media and video marketing. Dig to find out who your client is, what they are doing online, and how are the doing it, focus on a holist approach, understand that it takes time and consistency, be willing to adapt as things change, and success will be yours.

With all the information out there, it is not surprising that people make mistakes when they are trying to put together a marketing plan online. In fact, some people think they're doing the right thing, and feel discouraged when the system doesn't work and isn't working out for them. Here are some of the major mistakes people are making with internet marketing. Make sure you do your best to avoid these mistakes yourself.

The first mistake people make is to not do any internet marketing at all. This is a terrible mistake to be making. It's the same as those companies who opted not to do any tv marketing when in the early days of television. This is still very early in the life of the internet, and when you consider how much business you could be losing, you don't want to be on the wrong side of history.

Another mistake people make with regards to internet marketing is to not ask for help. If you don't know what you're doing, why not get a professional's help? You may not think you can afford a professional, but there are many marketing consultants who are not as expensive as you might think. Not only that, but you can also head to forums for internet marketers. You can learn a few things if you hang around and start to pick things up.

If you are hard-selling all the time on the internet, you need to head back to the middle ages. There is no reason to be spamming those you want to buy your products. They won't like it. Do you like when a company posts ad after ad after ad on the social media site of your choice? You probably don't.

One mistake that a lot of people make is to forget the customer. People spend so much time trying to impress whatever search engine, that they forget about the people who actually buy the products. Go over your site and make sure that it is readable and relevant to those people you hope will be your customers. If people like your site, it will be a success no matter what your SEO is like!

Another mistake that is rather common is thinking that marketing will produce instant results. It is not always like that. In fact, it is more often not like that. You have got to be patient. It is a good idea for you to diversity your marketing techniques, so that you are always working on something new to take hold.

Yet another mistake that people make when doing internet marketing is not monitoring how their efforts are doing. When you don't know what is working for you, and what isn't, you are being inefficient. You will likely be spending time on something that isn't serving you, and you won't be amping up methods that you're having success with.

With internet marketing, you are going to have hits, and you are going to have misses. But if you follow the advice in this article, you will be able to avoid some mistakes that a lot of people have made. Avoid wasting time, and avoid the mistakes laid out here.
