What Is a Customer’s Location Data Worth?

Geo-targeting and geo-fencing technology has been around for many years. Some social networks use it and provide businesses with ways to show customers offers and specials based on their current location. However, for the most part, these are application-specific. The Single Worst Thing A Dealership Can Do In Video Marketing

It has long been considered a best practice in search engine optimization and search engine marketing to use deep linking to take searchers to the exact content they are searching for, rather than simply directing them to your home page. If the searcher is not taken directly to the content they are seeking, they are forced to do a second search for the information once they…

The KPIs of Automotive SEO Accountability

The bad part about search engine optimization in the automotive industry is that there are so many companies that report on what they do for SEO rather than what they're accomplishing with their efforts. We've seen this hundreds of times when bringing on new clients and it's time to set the record straight.

It isn't hard to track the key performance metrics…

Don't Just Capture Leads Differently. Get More.

Website chat is viewed by many dealers to be an alternative method of communication, as it should be. There are some who view it as a lead generation tool and they can look at numbers to show that they're getting more leads, but to truly test their results that must take a closer look.

Properly positioned and managed chat on dealer websites can definitely be…

You Shouldn't Buy Your Suits at Walmart

There's nothing wrong with shopping at the local supercenter. The convenience of getting toilet paper, bananas, a video camera, and a package of socks for the kids all in the same place saves time and often saves money as well. However, there are lines that shouldn't be crossed. If you're looking for something as important as a suit, you probably want to go to a…

A True Customer is Yours Across the Board

We are creatures of habit. Unfortunately, the habits of the general population has changed over the last decade to create a separation between where they buy cars and where they have them serviced.

What's more unfortunate is that dealers have really started pushing in the same direction. They have service customers and they have sales customers. They divide them…

Cars.com may have been compromised today (8.21.2014)

ATTENTION CARS.COM CUSTOMERS: If you received an email asking you to update your account credentials it has all the marks of a "phishing" scam. (For you neophytes that is when a fake site is published that looks real but is only there to steal your logins and passwords.) I would avoid logging into any Cars.com dealer portal sites without checking with support first. It will ultimately be less of a headache than having your dealer account temporarily compromised.

Make Millennials Want Your Dealership's Social Content

Last week, AutoTrader.com released a study revealing that social media hasn’t impacted millennials’ car buying process. While this may sound discouraging for dealerships, ruling out social media might not be the best option. What if your dealership’s just not doing “social” the millennial way?
