How to Tell if a Michael Kors Watch is Original or Replica

There are many blogs and YouTube channels with information on how to tell if a Michael Kors watch is original or replica, unfortunately some information is inaccurate and can do more to help than that and so we want to share our knowledge with you.

Michael Kors used to be a strong watch brand, but due to a huge surge in popularity at the end of 2013, especially in the UK, Fossil (the real maker of Michael Kors watches) failed to maintain the expected quality, and these quality problems or inconsistencies in production made people begin to believe they had a fake watch.

The truth is that there is no good counterfeit Michael Kors watches. It's not because people who fake Michael Kors also fake brands like Hublot, Cartier and Rolex. They do not spend time and effort designing an MK watch to the smallest detail if they can make a Rolex with the same time and investment.

So if you have a Michael Kors watch that is slightly different from your friends, or one you have seen in a store, there is a good chance it is a genuine watch with a possible quality defect, especially on those dates.

Another thing is that Michael Kors upgrades old models all the time, and watches that were recently updated end up on sale at the same time as their predecessors, which can also cause confusion about their authenticity.

An example of this is the MK5774 Michael Kors watch, which has been updated and has a new face on both the front and the back. Both are a genuine MK5774 model and are an example of how Michael Kors makes small changes to his watches.

The package

The packaging may be used as an indication to determine whether a watch is fake or not, but it is not the only indicator.  In addition to fake packaging, keep in mind that there is a big trade for original packaging, where counterfeiters buy the original packaging to sell with their used watches, making it easier to scam.

The Manual

The Michael Kors handbook, like the packaging, is inconsistent between batches and cannot be used as the sole indication for falsification. Again, just like the pillows, you can see 3 genuine manuals that differ slightly in tone. Genuine manuals also contain a lot code, such as boxes. It can be found on the last page of the manual in the right corner.

The watch

Distinguishing an authentic Michael Kors from a fake is pretty easy, if not at first glance, it sure will be at the first touch. As I said later, despite what you may have heard out there, there is no good falsification of Michael Kors.

Watch weight

Weight is one of the main indications when distinguishing a true Michael Kors watch from a fake. Genuine Michael Kors watches of the same model vary in weight yes, but the range is a maximum of 4 grams. This may be caused by material changes or the thickness of the watch's casing. A fake Michael Kors will have a weight difference of up to 40 grams less compared to the real ones.

Chronograph: The chronograph is the most expensive piece of a Michael Kors, so that's why counterfeits don't have it. A fake Michael Kors will have buttons on the chronograph for visual purposes only. As you inspect the watch more closely you will notice that the chronograph's small hands are just embellishments.

In the end, make sure you buy your luxury watch from trusted places. If you choose to buy online, we recommend you to read this. Hopefully the tips above can give you knowledge about how to distinguish genuine watches with fake ones in general.
