You see, it is up to you! The way that your world works has nothing to do with the other people in it - not the managers, not F&I, not the rest of the sales team. The way that it works for you has everything to do with YOU - just you!

You have to believe that everyone is going to buy. The salesperson’s job is to believe in the deal. The manager’s job is to find the deal. Not everyone has the luxury of one-on-one guidance like Carlos, so you as a salesperson have to advocate for yourself. You have to look further first. 

Remember that list of questions we showed you last week? Did you write them all down? 

You need to know all you can so that you can do everything in your power to make this work for you, for your customer, for this deal. 

After you’ve asked them all the right questions, you need to ask yourself some too! Before you take this deal to desk, explore the possibilities.

  • What do you think will work for this customer? 
  • How about a Plan B? It’s not a bad idea to have something ready, just in case.
  • What else can we try? That’s right! Unless you just love that back and forth you always have to do, have the options ready in your mind before you go for the ‘no’.

Your manager is probably pretty busy. Does it seem that way to you when you go to desk? We have to learn to work with what we’ve got, and sometimes that means finding the answers ourselves! Think about all that can be done before you walk out of their office disappointed.
