1. Wrench

 2. Ratchet

 3. Sockets

Just like ratchets, sockets are also available in three common sizes. The sizes in which they are available are shallow, short and long. If you want to carry out some common car repairs, then all of sizes are equally important.

 4. Screwdrivers

There are various types of screwdrivers which you may need to carry out your car repairs. A few of them are listed below:


Stubbed Screwdrivers

You must have this screwdriver as it is helpful for tight spaces and works great when it’s time to remove the sensors.


Normal Length Screwdrivers

This type of screwdriver is used for general purposes. You must consider this while buying a screwdriver.


Long, skinny screwdrivers

They are really helpful, but are most common type to break. These types of screwdrivers are extremely helpful.


Heavy Duty Flathead Screwdriver

Do you want a screwdriver which you can hit with a hammer? This is a great tool and also doubles as a small pry bar.

Torx Screwdrivers

The special thing about this type of screwdrivers is that they have a star head. This type of screwdriver is generally used more by the car manufactures and is found on sensors.


A small flathead screwdriver

These can always be used during the tune ups as they can hold the intake throttle open. They are relatively inexpensive.


1.      Pliers

If you are thinking of changing some hoses, work with difficult connectors and have some kind of brake work, then you must have pliers. Some of the pliers are mentioned below which would be helpful for you.


Regular Pliers

There are a lot of people who have sets of regular pliers. This is must and one should definitely buy a pair of this.


Vise Grips

They help a lot when it comes to coolant hoses and other clamps. If you want to hold up hoods and trunks, even in that case it would be helpful as most of the times hydraulic rods fail.


Long and Short Needle Nose

There are a lot of people who use Long Needle Nose Pliers. They are available in two different sizes and both of them are helpful in a lot of car repairs.
