Komatsu Europe launches PC360LCi-11 hydraulic excavator

Since its introduction, the intelligent machine control for excavators has contributed to a successful increase in productivity and efficiency as well as to cost reductions for the customer. With this technology, Komatsu has set new standards in the construction industry. With the PC360LCi-11, customers can now also benefit from these advantages in large infrastructure and earthmoving projects.

"After the introduction of the PC210LCi-11, customers have realized the possibilities that intelligent machine control would offer for excavating large quantities of earth. That's why many have asked for a larger excavator," says Rob Macintyre, Product Manager at Komatsu Europe. "We are responding to this demand with the PC360LCi-11 and believe that this machine will enable our customers in this application area to achieve a great increase in productivity, efficiency and significant cost savings.

The operating weight of the PC360LCi-11 is between 35,600 kg and 36,200 kg, depending on the configuration. The maximum recommended bucket volume is 2.66 m3. The fuel-efficient Komatsu SAA6D114E-6 EU Stage IV engine offers 202 kW / 275 hp net engine power at 1,950 rpm.

The first-class fleet management functions of the latest version of the KOMTRAX telematics system and the Komatsu CARE™ maintenance program protect the machine from unauthorized use and are designed for maximum efficiency. This avoids downtimes.

XXL crane for Rostock: New giant to advance port industry in MV

With a height of up to 164 meters, the TCC 78000 heavy-duty gantry crane from Liebherr is the new face of the Rostock overseas port. The crane will be able to transport loads weighing a maximum of 1600 tons.

Liebherr has been erecting the TCC 78000 heavy-duty gantry crane on its own premises in the overseas port since the beginning of 2019. At the end of last year, the first trolleys were placed on the rails, calibrated and positioned. In the meantime, the crawler tracks, portal, nacelle and mast have been assembled and the upper section of the mast has been fastened at a height of around 100 meters. In order to be able to move the extremely heavy loads on the rails, more than 600 piles with a length of 22.5 meters were drilled into the ground.

"To erect a crane of this dimension here in Rostock is something special for all employees," says Benjamin Rattfann, test bench master for ship and offshore cranes at Liebherr-MCCtec Rostock. Electrical installations and test runs should be completed in summer 2019. Then the gigantic crane with a total height of 164 meters can transport loads of up to 1600 tons when the boom is upright. For comparison: The tower of the Petrikirche in Rostock is 117 meters high.

Dump truck sets new safety standards

The Danish construction machinery manufacturer Hydrema is ready to set completely new standards for safety when working with small dump trucks. At bauma, the company says it is presenting a dump truck that breaks with the old standards - particularly in England, the world's largest market for site dumpers. "Site dumpers are involved in almost every third construction machine accident in England," explains Thorkil K. Iversen, Hydrema's development manager. "Every year, many machine operators lose their lives or are seriously injured in accidents involving site dumpers. The cause is often that the machines simply overturn or the operator is thrown out of the machine while driving on uneven terrain. In other situations, workers or pedestrians are run over by the dumper as a result of the driver's poor visibility".

Now the Danish manufacturer is launching a small dumper truck that breaks with earlier ideas of site dumpers. In fact, the new Hydrema machine is not a site dumper, but a professional articulated dump truck with a reduced scale. Its dimensions make it an ideal partner for mini- and compact excavators in the class up to 6 t, as the new 707G also impresses with its low loading height.

"No other manufacturer has dared to turn the concept upside down," says Iversen. "But that's exactly what we did: we simply took our proven Hydrema 912 dump truck and transferred its many qualities to a smaller dumper. That's how the Hydrema 707G was born. This means that there is now a site dumper that can offer good visibility, high stability and safe protection for the driver."
