The tuition fee for an online distance learning program is generally higher than an on-campus tuition structure. In reality, the cost of running an online program can exceed and usually does, a campus program. But of course, this is not the case for every online distance learning program.

You could live in Oregon and school in New York with no trouble at all. Truth is, you don’t even have to come to school a single day of the duration of your course. On the Internet you can easily locate schools and institutions that provide distance learning courses that will interest you. Registration, payments, and even attendance can all be done online. When it’s time for your tests, the school can even provide controlled conditions that uphold everyone’s integrity. You have little to worry about.

Only the national government of a state has the power to name a college a ‘university’. Those who ‘steal’ this use are really not qualified to offer any kind of course, much less distance education. They do it however, and many times they get away with it because of those poor folks who do not have the money to go for more popular and expensive establishments.

The growth of distance learning has only been enhanced by the advent of the Internet. Correspondence that could have taken days, even weeks to transmit from the professor to the student and back, can now take mere moments. Knowing that you have to be in school – physically – to write your examinations can send a bit of a chill through you. College deans and professors know this. This is why they ask you to come to school on the day of your final exams to write the papers in person. You are forced to study hard so that you can pass. The degree you get in the end is absolutely worth it.

Your success in a distance learning program ultimately depends on how much you are willing to make it work. If you are too busy to invest some time, you may not be able to create the time to engage in a distance learning program.

The absence of interaction in a distance learning setting may discourage some people. The internet has given distance learning students the opportunity to interact actively. Forums, emails and discussion boards are internet features that help distance learning students simulate the interaction system of a classroom.
