Sitting in the chair of a dealership waiting for the up bus to come is unproductive, most dealerships today have a BDC department that stimulates appointments. But what if they don't where you are or worse, they do and there still isn't enough clients or prospects coming in. As a sales professional it is good to join as many social clubs as possible, like the Lions, Kiwanis or Elks club and network yourself. Neighbors and relatives all are driving, who are they buying from? But a real source of business is the "orphan" file, ask your manager for a former salesman orphan list. You can see their trade habits and purchase cycles, call them and introduce your self ask for a visit to see the new line up in your dealership. Ask for referrals and become aggressive in stimulating those appointments or you can sit there another day and wait for the bus!
