Ok.  This is random and I know it but I think it will show the huge differences in our individual ways of doing things even when trying to reach the exact same goal.  The question stems from my situation a year ago when I took over one store in my dealer group.  I began to implement things that led to where I am a year later in charge of the Internet Departments for the entire group.

 

So, you get a brand new job and are told you have fre run of the department as long as you remember not top go crazy with the money.  What are the first three things you change or put in place?

1. you must first call your venders and ask for them to come in to meet you.
2. let them know that you are wanting to give them a chance to show you how they are helping you sell more cars.
3.Dont beat around the bush, ask and get a dicount no matter what!
I had a dealer friend that took over a store and they were signed up with (dont want to say the venders name)
and were paying 8500 amonth for there service and cut them off right off the bat!, he told them when they get the price down 2500 amonth come back, 20 days later they came back and signed up for 2500 for the same service.
When your done with all your venders then you can ask on dealerelite.net who are the best venders out there and do you homework and get back to rolling !
You should pick more Ad money for your dept to sell more cars!

Renegotiate the third party provider contracts to lower rates per lead if you use them. Fire the dead weight if necessary and use a leaner, more properly trained crew. TRAIN, TRAIN, TRAIN, TRAIN, TRAIN DAILY!!! Train your people EVERY DAY!!!
