Negativity breeds negativity. It's simple. Ownership and management set the tone for the culture of a store. Often times management wonders why their sales team is always so negative or what they can do to boost moral. The answer, be positive. It is the duty of owners and managers to set a positive and professional tone at all times. It is easy to pass blame off to others or join the huddle in the pitty party. Be above that, be great, breed positivity. It only takes one person to bring everyone down. Identify who that person or persons is and address the issue. Resolving the pent up negative emotions in a proffessional and positive manner will resolve most issues. Build trust and loyalty with your sales team and they will not let you down. Most people who like who they work for and enjoy going to work, work harder, smarter and are better "company people."

Why else do sales people get negative? They get into slumps. Understandably sales people have slumps and it seems like they are never going to get out. It is tough working all those hours and not making the pay check you want. But, they will never get out of the slump if their attitude does not change. Who is responsible for that? Some say the sales person, those people are the people that pass blame and do not want to build. Getting a sales person out of a slump and getting their attitude back on track is the resposiblity of the managers. That is why managers exist, to coach and build!

Look, there could be a million reasons why a sales person gets negative. The managers need to give them a million reasons to be positive.

Find solutions, not problems.
