A Step-By-Step Guide on How to Link Aadhaar With LIC Policies

Have you got any LIC plans? Or do you hold an Aadhaar card?

It may be beneficial for you to know that you can link the two together. It isn’t just to receive all the benefits, but it has also now got made mandatory by the Central Government of India.

What Does LIC Offer? 

Both offline and online facilities – making it easy for linking Aadhaar and PAN to your policies. 

The Online Method for LIC Plans: 

  1. Register your mobile number with UIDAI.
  2. You’ll receive an OTP to the number given.
  3. Once verified, you’ll receive an email or SMS confirmation.

The LIC Plans Offline Method: 

Fill in a form and submit with the relevant documents, to an LIC branch.

Once you’re all set up with LIC, you are then ready to link your Aadhaar with LIC plans. 

Link Your Aadhaar with LIC Policies – Online Method 

1# List all of your LIC policy numbers, while also having your PAN and Aadhar Card to hand. 

2# Log into your LIC account personal statement writing. 

3# Locate the link saying ‘Aadhaar and PAN with LIC policies.’ Click to proceed to the next step. 

4# Your mobile number should already be registered with UIDAI (the Aadhaar card issuer) – you will get sent an OTP. If there are any problems with your mobile number, then you’ll need to contact a nearby LIC branch. 

5# You’ll next be taken to a form page, once you’ve ticked the checklist. Fill in all your details like your Aadhaar/policy number etc. 

6# Fill in details like: 

  • Your full identical name as per Aadhaar record.
  • Date of Birth.
  • Name of Spouse/Father.
  • All your reference numbers as listed

7# Once done, click on GET OTP and another security code will get sent to the mobile number you registered to your Aadhaar card. 

8# You’ll get a message of congratulations for subscribing, and you’ll receive a verification again through either mail/SMS. However, the verification process may take them a few days. 

Link your Aadhaar with LIC Policies – Offline Method 

You will need the correct forms, documents, and other details, and it can get posted to your nearest LIC branch. However, compared to doing it online, the process may take you longer. 

The Benefits of Linking Aadhaar with LIC Plans 

It was a move by the Government to create a more transparent financial market for India. They intend to connect Aadhaar with all of these services Dil Hi To Hai Episode:

  • Banking services.
  • Social benefits.
  • Subsidy payments.
  • Tax services.
  • LIC plans and insurance services.

It then moved onto bank accounts, mutual funds portfolio, post office accounts and mobile phone.

The whole purpose of linking your Aadhaar card is so everything is a lot easier to administer and manage, as well as keeping up to date with any changes. 

Important Note: 

The deadline for all services is December 31st, with exception to your mobile number – which is February 6th. 

What Happens If You Don’t Link Aadhar with LIC Policies 

The policy will continue (as long as you collect the KYC documents). However, things can get complicated, most notably with your health insurance plans – if you were to make a claim, the insurers would ask for KYC documents linked with Aadhaar, as they have to pay the subjected claims.

As the rules are now getting followed, it may cause unnecessary stress and hassle, and may even affect your claim.

So it’s a good idea to integrate them now, and as explained above, the process won’t take you more than ten minutes online. 

The Reserve Bank of India: 

In a press release, the bank stated that linkage of an Aadhaar number to a bank account is mandatory under the Prevention of Money-laundering –   from the Maintenance of Records, Second Amendment rules.

It got published on June 1st, 2017, and all Indian banks have implemented them without any further instructions.
