Auto Dealers Need to Back Up and Take Advantage of Tax Incentives and Savings Programs Available for Them…

Auto dealers have two major tax incentives available to them, yet most are not taking advantage and consequently losing money. The main programs that most in this industry are missing out on are:

  1. Engineering-based Property Cost Segregation
  2. Property Tax Reduction
  3. Smart Benefit Reform Program
  4. Class Action Settlements
  5. Credit Card Processing at $0 Cost.

Engineering-based Cost Segregation:

Engineering-based cost allocation identifies opportunities for federal, and in some cases, state tax advantages to owners of commercial industrial real estate by accelerating the depreciation on their property.

Taxpayers are typically correct in depreciating personal property such as equipment and furniture over five or seven years, but they often neglect available federal and state tax benefits by erroneously depreciating their entire investment in constructing or acquiring a building over 39 years. To do this correctly, one must hire an experienced engineer with a thorough understanding of construction finance.  The engineer will review all blueprints, architectural drawings, and electrical plans to isolate structural and mechanical components from those that are considered personal property in addition to identifying architectural and engineering fees that can be segregated.  The resulting cost allocation report will allow a taxpayer to:

  • Adjust the timing of deductions thus maximizing tax savings
  • Create a complete audit trail to resolve any IRS inquiries
  • Capture immediate retroactive savings on qualifying properties
  • Reduce real estate tax liabilities significantly

Property Tax Reduction:

Probably the most frustrating bill that comes each year (or in some cases, twice each year) is the property tax bill. As of this writing, our studies indicate the average Auto Dealer in the United States is being overcharged by 20% on their property taxes. There are many reasons Auto Dealers are overcharged but mainly it is the result of improper assessments by the municipality. If you own an Auto Dealership and are paying property taxes over $50,000 per year, you should have a review completed on your facility. Reductions in this area are direct to your bottom line!

SMART Benefit Reform Program:

This program is designed to help employers to identify overcharges and savings opportunities relating to health insurance. SMART Benefits identifies options for reducing health insurance premiums and reimbursing employees for certain out of pocket expenses, such as deductibles, coinsurance, and co-pays. SMART Benefits also provides access to doctors by phone and video chat 24/7 with zero consultation fees and may uncover potential cost reductions for Dental, Vision, Prescriptions, and medical expenses not covered by health insurance. It also puts more money in the employees pay check, helps reduce the cost for employers by $300-500/employee per year and allows the employee and/or dependents to start recovering money paid from dollar one, all without changing insurance broker or carrier.

Class Action Settlements:

This is a service of asset recovery, by specializing in Class Action Settlement Claims Recovery. As the recognized leader in Class Action Settlement Recovery, we have obtained over $100's of millions in class action settlement and other recoveries. We prepare initial claim forms and all supporting documentation necessary. Our processing department was a form claims office of a major claims administrator, which we purchased. Heaving  been on the other side of the claims, we are able to file claims fore efficiently and when needed, utilize a common sense approach to data collection. Remember, you already have over paid and by filing a claim, you are recovering your money.

Credit Card Process at $0 Cost:

This service is designed to reduce a business’s cost of credit card acceptance to zero-net-cost by adding a surcharge paid by the consumer. New rules that became effective January 27, 2013 allow merchants to impose a fee for the use of credit cards. This a fully compliant solution to take advantage of the new regulations which allow merchants to pass along credit card processing fees to consumers. Please note that merchants are not permitted to impose a fee for the use of debit cards. We use a patent-pending technology that ensures regulatory compliance by determining whether a given card is a credit card or a debit card before the transaction is processed. The software then automatically applies a fee whenever a credit card is swiped or entered so that the merchant gets back most, if not all, of its processing costs. Compliance is critical and our team takes all the necessary steps to set up a merchant’s account with the right parameters ensuring the merchant is in compliance from the very first swipe.  With this program, the merchant keeps 100% of the savings. Currently not available in CO, CT, KS, ME, MA, NY, OK and TX.

If you have not had a thorough review on your facility, especially as it relates to the areas of Property Cost Segregation, Property Tax Reduction, Smart Benefits, Class Action Claims and your Credit Card Processing, you are likely losing or leaving money on the table, that should remain in your pocket and drop directly to your bottom line.
