Today when one goes online for a shopping experience, there are many choices - from eBay to Craigslist to Amazon to every store you can imagine. When we look at the biggest, eBay and Amazon, we notice they are TRACKING YOUR EVERY MOVE. They do this to understand what your interests, hobbies, times of year for purchases and consumer behaviors are so that they can offer you an enhanced purchase experience. Doing this allows them to present to the consumer recommendations based on pages they visit, understand frequency and time put into purchasing decisions and offer timely specials and coupons to help give the consumer a little nudge when needed. Ever open your email to find recommendations from eBay or Amazon? Ever wonder how they know what you like? These are the biggest online vendors in the world. What if you, as an Automotive Retailer, could also see these things to understand where your customers are going and how long they are there? Would you also like to know how they found you - either from typing in “2008 F-150” or “ABC Motors” for keywords working best, or were they linked from AutoTrader or other online advertising sources? What if you could deliver a customer a coupon while they are still staring at a vehicle on your site? If your 10:00 a.m. Service Appointment was also looking at a new Cruze, wouldn’t you pull that Cruze up on point at 9:30 in front of Service? If you make a customer, “Lost” after no contact for 30 days but they are on your site looking at vehicles again, wouldn’t you like to follow up even if they didn’t resubmit another Lead? Wonder why eBay and Amazon are the biggest?? Would you like to be??? What would you do differently in your daily process if you knew what they know now??
