If you are looking at your month and aren’t happy where you think you will end up DO something about it.

DO: verb

1. To perform (an act, duty, role, etc.):

2. To execute (a piece or amount of work):

3. To accomplish; (finish; complete):

4. To put forth; (exert):

5. To be the cause of (good, harm, credit, etc.); bring about; effect.

6. To render, give, or pay (homage, justice, etc.).

7. To deal with, fix, clean, arrange, move, etc., (anything) as the case may require:

My favorite on this list is number 7.

To Deal with: Every organization has known issues with either people or process that have either been ignored or tolerated.

Ferret these issues out: silence equals consent and denial allows small issues to grown to unmanageable sizes.

To Fix: If people, process, tools and technology haven’t been maintained in working order then it’s time for repair work, upgrades and possibly replacements.

Are your people in proper working order mentally, physically and emotionally? Have your process evolved and refined over time or have they atrophied?

Are the tools your organization is using helping or hindering your people? Do they have what they need to complete the task? Do they need an upgrade?

To Clean: Look are around your organization how much CLUTTER can you spot.

This can be as simple as basic housekeeping to as complicated as redundant process. Clutter limits your speed, your mobility and presents a poor impression inside and outside your organization.

Are you clean and crisp or does the environment look like an episode of hoarders? Do you hold onto outdated process? Are multiple people on make work projects every day? A good deep cleaning of your people, process and environment can revitalize an organization.

To Arrange: When was the last time you took a hard look at the work schedule, who was accountable for what and what is the sales narrative was you were presenting to customers?

Do your work schedules match your production schedules? Are the people with the least amount of authority held the most accountable? Does the environment you created provide visibility to your managers as well as direct customers and promote sales?

To Move: The most effective way of producing results is creating actions. You and your people getting up and walking around is the most obvious application of this but not the only one.

When was the last time you shifted responsibilities amongst your team? Do you have your people in the right roles?  Someone can be a great outfielder but fail as a pitcher

Should they not get a chance to play right field because they can't throw a curve ball?

Are your people up to the task or do you need make some hard personnel changes?

ANYTHING as the case may require: Things either happen BECAUSE of you or they happen TO you.

Be willing to do ANYTHING as the case may require even IF IT’S SOMEONE ELSES IDEA. Some people will choose to fail silently rather than speak up and succeed.

Don’t be afraid to exhaust all your resources including reaching out for help. No one can be an expert on everything but everyone knows an expert on something.

Start DO-ING as soon as possible and you will be amazed how quickly you will leap beyond your current goals
