Hello, my name is Jessica and I work for a very large dealership and we'll be combining the sales and service BDC into one room.

I've worked both as a sales and service BDC Manager but never both at the same time. I'm trying to firgure out how to put my employees on the same payscale since they all will be handling sales and service calls, follow ups, and making appt.'s.

I plan to pay them hourly, but how should I structure the incentives? Any idea's out there?

Thank you!

Jessica, I would not recommend merging a sales and service BDC, they are 2 different skill sets.

Feel free to call me for pay plan Ideas also I would be glad to explain why not to merge.

We pay an hourly wage plus a bonus for sold appointments for the sales BDC represenatives. For service we pay an hourly wage plus a bonus for the following; service to sales close, Inactive customer appt, decline service appt and sale.

Hello Jessica,

We have hundreds of BDC's small and large that handle both Sales & Service.  We recommend having a BDC that

specializes.  You will want to have a Sales team and a Service team in your room; some may be cross trained to help cover sick days, vacation, etc...but you should have specialists.  As you grow, you will want to have "Team Leaders" that way you have someone always driving the teams to hit their daily activity levels.

For pay, Service BDR's will not be paid the same as a Sales BDR.

I'd be happy to send you a Staffing Guide that includes job descriptions and pay plans; just provide me your email address.

Again, I strongly discourage you to have your current BDR's handling both Sales and Service leads; this is a common pitfall we see in existing BDC's.

How large is your group?  We have BDC's handling up to as many 50 locations; the average is probably around 10 locations....any other questions you may have please reach out anytime or email me at:  bschrader@bdcexperts.com

I agree with Barrett, My explanation was brief compared to Barret, but it carry's the same message: Don't combine them other than having them in the same room.

Thank you all so much for your comments. Not merging the service and sales will make it so much easier!
