FTC is making some serious noise on Deceptive Advertising. Are you in the crosshairs?

     Last year I warned about the shot across the bow of our industry from the FTC. For the first time in decades, the FTC brought 5 dealers to account for their alleged deceptive advertising practices. Each dealer became saddled with painful consent decrees. Which is a way of saying. OK, I will pay and promise not to do what I am accused of doing ever again. That ripple effect was not enough.

 

    So, We enter into 2014 with this huge slap by the FTC. 9 dealers signed consent decrees. Now the FTC clearly states they are not done. They many more dealers in the cross hairs. Are you one of them?

  Here is an unintended ripple affect. As our business returns to profitability. These actions against dealers are akin to drawing blood. The waters are tainted now and the Plaintiff attorney sharks are cruising the waters. I hear that theme song from jaws in my mind now.
