YES IS CLOSER THAN YOU THINK! A MUST READ for SALES PEOPLE & MANAGERS

So many blogs lately on the processes of top producers, selling 20-40+ cars a month, best practices, does anyone really grow up to be an automotive sales person, etc.

From back as far as we can remember, we are "programmed" by parents, friends, school buddies, work associates, bosses that many "things" are either impossible or just can't be done.

Remember the 4 minute mile?  EVERYONE said it couldn't be done yet Roger Bannister didn't believe it and was the first to break it on May 6th, 1954.  YES! Since someone finally had done it, it was broken again in just 6 weeks after Bannister did it, YES!. Today, many people have broken the first record back in 1954 with the best time at 3:43:13 by Hicham El Guerrouj.  


When Thomas Edison was trying to invent the light bulb, thousands of people told him he was wasting his time.  He tried 2000 times and the critics just kept coming.  Finally, around his 2001st attempt, YES!, and the modern day light bulb was invented.  When a reporter of that day asked Edison how he felt about failing 2000 times, Edison simply said, "I never failed, I just found 2000 ways not to make a light bulb". Imagine our world today had he given up and never believed the "YES" was just one more attempt away.


How many times have we been told in the car business (by our peers AND managers)  that the average sales person will only sell around 12 cars a month, business is bad, 20-25% is the average closing ratio and to expect to only sell around 1 out of 4, business development doesn't work or takes too long, and the list goes on.

Meet Kim (graphic of sales board) who works in southern Texas.  When I left the dealership this past Friday night, Kim had 45 cars out for the month with the weekend and today to reach 50+. Kim averages 40+ cars a month, made $240,000 last  year, and is working to reach $250,000 - $300,000 this year.  Kim is NOT FLEET, NOT INTERNET sales.... just works very hard with regular customers and referrals and NEVER GIVES UP.  

I just want to reinforce to ALL SALES PEOPLE AND MANAGERS the power of positive thinking and that "YES you can, YES is in your future" is possible if you stay in the business, focus, and do not listen to anyone who tells you large volume and income isn't possible in our industry today. "YES" IS CLOSER THAN YOU THINK!

Where can a person go today, with ANY education, and earn $240,000 + a year?  How about the car business!  Congratulations Kim!  Good to know there is a Roger Bannister and Thomas Edison in our business.

Positive thinking is very powerful. It starts with the top in management and goes down from there.
