Larry Gray’s 1961 Corvette.

His childhood was spent in Pine Bluff, Ark., where he delivered newspapers for 35 cents a week and pumped gas. In those days station attendants would pump the gasoline, check the oil level in your car and wipe your vehicle’s windshield.

That's it- What a beauty! Blue would be my preference but what a beauty just the same. If memory serves me they kept this body style until 68. In my opinion the best body style ever for the Corvette.

Connie-Thank you for the trip down memory lane-It was a sweet ride.

I'll take a couple of suggestions for next week's Throwback Thursday Make/Model if you have any!

Was it the Sting Ray, Bill?

Here's a 1963 split window coupe owned by Jim Board of St. Louis.

Coooooool-  Now there's one for each day of the week if you dig out your old bike out on Saturdays and Sundays.

Thanks- My favorite is the 63 (I think or 64) Split window-I had a chance to buy one when 19 for 3500.00 but I didn't buy it. I'll let you guess why not.

You gave me a chuckle there, Bill!  Larry owns a restored '61 Corvette now... but back in day he worked hard pumping gas and tossing papers on front lawns -- from a bike.

I enjoy the timeless beauty from the early years of the Corvette. Here are a few more for you to enjoy, Bill.

1962, owned by Clayton Catchings of Houston.

1955, owned by Fenwick Binder, Louisiana.

1955, owned by Andy Peters, Virginia.

958, owned by Tom Horstkamp, Maryland.

Not that I want to date myself but this brings back memories of how I started when I was young- What a way to deliver newspapers- Too bad I was still on bicycle back then.
