Where does Leadership at a dealership come from?

I was in the largest Chrysler, Jeep Dodge dealership in Houston a little while back and took a good look at the dynamics of this Organization. One of the owners is always walking around helping where he can, greeting customers, always having a positive word to say to all his employees, from the salesman that has been there for a few weeks to the Director of Finance that has been with him for decades. Another owner has his hands in everything, his 100 years of experience (LOL) keeps everyone on the straight and focused path. Should you make a slight detour from that path he is there to gentle direct you back to the path without the use of foul language and without holding a grudge. The other owner is what I call a gentle giant. This man was a professional basketball player but Lawrence Taylor would pay attention when he walks into a room. He is the sales manager everyone wished he had. His upbeat positive attitude lets all his salesmen know if there is a deal to be made he will make it. In this organization PROFIT is not a dirty word if it is done with pride, honesty and integrity.

This dealership was abandoned as a lost cause before this group took over and now always in the top 10 in the Nation for Chrysler, Jeep and Dodge. If you do not believe that leadership comes from the top take a better look at the success of Spring Chrysler Jeep Dodge.

I believe that all people that work within any organization can and should be "Leaders"....Leaders, great ones serve others....they facilitate others success...they encourage, they mentor, they help...they serve...and every person in a dealership can do that...
