In 1973, Joe Girard set a World Record for delivering 1425 cars. No fleet, no used cars.

That record has stood ever since.

Today, my company, Relyable.org has sponsored a contest to crown a new champion. I am here to ask for your thoughts on whether anyone can break this long standing record.

We want to pay!

Dan,

You can find the rules here along with a summary. http://www.relyable.org/?page_id=436

The good news is that it really doesn't matter how Joe did it. There are many ways to do this within the guidelines of the rules. It only takes some imagination on how to make it happen. It is a record that can fall simply because that is what records are for!

While Joe may have had assistants or not doesn't matter. The new record holder can have assistants. They just can't be other salespeople in the dealership, thus making it effectively a 'split' deal, which is against the rules. There is nothing that says a contestant can't have their own BDC.

What Joe did NOT have was a cell phone, email, text, internet, websites, social networks and Relyable to spread the word and to get recommendations and referrals. Joe also didn't have me trying to help him hit it and paying him a million if he did.

Finally, I was shocked that the rules allowed me to announced the contest months before it begins. That is a huge advantage to the organization looking to gain the glory of hitting this record. Relyable.org has received hundreds of petition signing shoppers in just three days with no press at all. How many shoppers can we drive to a record competitor over a year?

The contest of course, is to bring shopper awareness to the fact that not all salespeople are lairs. Relyable reviews are how you find them.

So the question really is: Who want's help to be the most famous salesperson in history?
