Training is more than telling...
 
Pretty much everyone agrees that training is vitally important in every business and is certainly important in the automotive business.  With frequent employee turnover and an ever changing business environment, effective and ongoing training is essential. 
 
However, training is often prioritized as a necessary evil and something that has to be done, but no one has time for it. Your manufacturer reps are frequently offering training for your dealership and there are many independent resources knocking on your door offering you the next great Power Close, or sales strategy.
 
And while many trainers are effective, once the trainer leaves and training needs to executed, supported and reinforced it is all too often assigned to people who are either not trained as trainers, or don't have time to invest in consistent and effective training processes. 
Often a training is assigned to a Sales, or Service Manager who has fires to put out, sales to generate. or reports to complete.  They have just enough time to tell people what do and rarely the time needed to :train someone how to do it well and then provide the consistent and ongoing feedback that is required to gain measurable improvement.

If you do not have a central person, or group of persons skilled at, responsible for and accountable to producing outstanding results with the training you provide then you are missing an important element that maximizes the results of any training initiative...clarity and consistency.
