Majority of Auto Leases Increase or Maintain Prices Entering January

76% of Today’s Popular Leases Retain or Slightly Increase Their Monthly Payment Prices from December, the nation’s first online car lease marketplace for new lease deals, reports the latest update on new lease offerings, with prices on most of today’s popular leases holding steady or slightly increasing from last month.  Twenty-two different vehicles maintained their prices from the previous month, while twenty-four slightly increased, showing prices are holding steady or coming off seasonal promotions entering the new year.

Many vehicle prices have remained steady into January, but dealers have offered generous discounts on compact car and mid-size cars. Only one vehicle is currently offered for less than $150 per month on The Volkswagen Jetta is currently priced at $139 per month, making it the most affordable vehicle for the month. The Volkswagen Jetta has maintained this lease price for the past three months.

Dealers have continued to offer aggressive prices on compact cars in particular. Three compact cars are currently offered at less than $200 monthly. The Chevrolet Cruze is priced at $189 per month, the Honda Civic is priced at $179 per month, and the Ford Focus is offered at $159 per month.

“Overall, lease prices seem to be consistent with holiday sales from last month, showing that manufacturers and dealers are still hoping to move their remaining inventory entering the new year,” said Scot Hall, Executive Vice President of “Lower prices on fuel and tax reform in 2018 encouraged consumers to spend more, so it will be interesting to see if this momentum can continue into 2019.”

The vehicle that saw the largest price drop moving in the month of December was the Honda Accord, with a -8.80% decrease.  The vehicle is offered at $249 per month, in comparison to last month at $315.64. The vehicles with the largest increased monthly payment are the BMW X5 with a +20.95% increase, and the Ram 1500 Crew Cab with a +29.86% increase in price from December.  The X5 is currently offered at $925 per month, while the Crew Cab is offered for $179.
