The days of the "Old School" are coming to an end in our Industry.......

Good Morning Dealer Elite Members and Car Guys and Gals everywhere.....

As an industry we have had our ups and downs, our challenges and our opportunities. As I travel around North America I see the whole range of Owners, Managers, salespeople and customers. I also see examples in our industry and in other industry of how we can move the industry forward and change the process for the better. We have spend the last 30 to 40 years conditioning customers that we can sell in cheaper, letting them believe that there is a shell game going on and they now believe that we are not giving them the facts.

We need to stop behaving like "old school" car dogs and start believing that transparency and great customer service are a great way to do business. We need to start "proving" to customers and the media that we are the good guys and we provide our customers will a valuable and helpful service and we are not out to confuse them, manipulate them and rip them off.

How do we get this done you may ask? Well like most things it will not happen overnight, but over time we can make this industry one that is respected, valued and even admired but customers and the media as well. It all starts by treating people right, giving them a high level or service and providing Logical answers, true transparency, and great service after the sale as well.

When you have great staff, a great process, great attitude, and a team to take care of the customer moving forward you not only maximize the profit for the dealership you have happier customers, repeat customers and more customers.

Forget the "Old School" and start thinking about how you can move your dealership and the industry to the next level.

If you have questions, or want help achieving this growth and putting the processes in place, we can help!

Thank for the support. I could not agree more with the transparency thoughts.

Have a great day everyone...

Ian, our business will always be about lifting the handles and developing a relationship. We've just got to be adaptive to how we deliver our processes. As Bobby Compton said, "transparency doesnt mean non profit." Whe you have a great process matched with professionalism, you make more gross. Take fine dining for example...people pay for the experience, the presentation, and the ambiance. We too can create that experience. We just have to resist going straight to being the Low Cost Leader...we invest far too much into our profession to cheapen it by losing hundreds of dollars. To me...that is not selling..that is commoditizing an industry that is not meant to be. Thanks for the post brother.

Hi Ian...

I just discovered your stuff this morning, and I know we will be supportive of each others work from this day forward...COOL!!!

Myself and my stores are blazing the trail out of the fog, and into the smog of 21st century car sales. Your stuff resonates with me, and I'm sure we could roll around in the same mud pit together for a while...figuratively of course. I will be reading all of your stuff in the next little while.

I like to consider myself progressive and bold. I am a risk taker, and like to try new things. I know you know what I'm talking about, and I could ramble on, but this is not the forum for that. Suffice to say, surely we are natural collaborators, and I hope to hear back from you soon. Please call me @ 971-544-9041 when you get a chance. I would love to share some stuff.

I could type for hours, but let me just get to a couple things. Go here to see our latest adventure. Note what Bobby Compton has to say;-)  Also look at the email Dave Anderson sent me below.

Gillon,

I love it. It's an ideal blend of branding, customer service, and marketing fueled by proactive leadership. It shows what can happen when people focus energies on making something happen rather than lamenting their limitations. I'm sure your strategy for best utilizing this resource will evolve over time and not over night--after lots of experimenting. I can think of little that would more demonstrate the confidence Rich has in you than to put this in your hands.

My congratulations to Rich, you and your team.

Take care,

Dave

When you get letters like these, one feels pretty good.  I  have this weekend off, but starting June 20th, me and the bus are booked solid at every County Fair and Monster Truck Pull until Christmas. I will be the Captain, and will take a salesperson from whatever area we are working.

Click here to see our Web Page for the Bus, and then click here to go to "Gillon's Blog"  Of course, all this is a work in progress, but I'm sure having a good time. I'm so lucky, literally, I get ZERO instructions. All I have to do is show up every day. The zenith of my working, productive, career life is indeed ahead of me...Wow, how fortunate for me.

Anyway, I hope we get the chance to chat someday soon.

Sincerely,

Gillon aka Fred B. Natural aka Mr. Natural
