Comment by Joe Lockerd on January 3, 2014 at 12:18pm Nature vs nurture. Always a tough debate. I would say my thoughts on the matter are pretty much in line with you and Ernie. Its a little bit of both, lol. Certainly not everyone is "cut out" to be a Salesperson. However, a good trainer/teacher can recognize when someone has the necessary traits to succeed in the Automotive Industry and can encourage that person to apply those traits to mastering their craft. And of course at the end of the day it will always come down to the salesperson applying him or herself to the craft and continuing to improve.

Comment by Ernie Kasprowicz on January 3, 2014 at 11:21am You sum up much of what I have seen to be true. I believe a person needs to possess traits that allow them to naturally interact with others as well as have a high degree of perseverance. I also believe that sales skills and selling can be a learned behavior and if a person follows a process they can increase their success.
