Good point Jason,

As a vendor I no longer present any products to anyone until they till me how, and where they need to inprove there botton line,"no matter how great the product is!"

This is a great analogy. If your sales person is not asking the right question they could be giving away profit. You have to ask questions about what the customer is exactly looking for. I remember when a sales person I managed told me that we couldn't ask full MSRP for a specific car we were negotiated price over, but I told him there were only 3 of them in that customer's color and specification in the entire midwest, we charged MSRP. Ask Questions as many as you can then listen.
