Wolters Kluwer Auto Finance Digital Transformation Index: Digital Adoption Broadens Across the Auto Finance Ecosystem in Q2
eContracting volume rises 7 percent quarter-over-quarter as growth spreads across captives, fintech lenders, and dealer connectivity networks; digital securitization volume climbs 61 percent year-over-year on expanding credit union participation.
NEW YORK – July 30, 2026 – Wolters Kluwer Compliance Solutions today released its Q2 Auto Finance Digital Transformation Index, illustrating that eContracting volume increased 7 percent from Q1 to Q2 in 2026 and 2 percent year-over-year. The four-year trend now shows digital adoption growth of 63 percent dating back to Q1 2022, up from the 61 percent trended figure reported last quarter.
Digital Adoption Against Q2 Auto Sales
The second quarter's digital adoption results mirrored sales activity in the broader auto industry that finished the quarter on a strong note. Preliminary estimates saw June new-vehicle sales at 1.36 million units, up 7 percent year-over-year, with the seasonally adjusted annual rate finishing near 16.5 million, according to Cox Automotive. Auto credit conditions also loosened during the quarter, with the Dealertrack Credit Availability Index climbing to 103.7 in May, its highest level since April 2022.
eContracting Key Findings from the Q2 Index:
Securitizations Key Findings from Q2:
Digital securitization transactions decreased 8 percent from Q1 to Q2 2026, while increasing 61 percent year-over-year; The four-year Wolters Kluwer trend continues to show consistent and steady growth in digital adoption dating back to Q1 2022.
"Q2 shows digital adoption maturing into a genuinely ecosystem-wide trend," said Matthew Babcock, Digital Lending Product Strategy for Wolters Kluwer. "eContracting growth this quarter wasn't limited to fintech disruptors or a handful of early movers; captives, established finance companies and dealer connectivity platform transaction facilitators all contributed meaningfully to the gains. On the securitization side, the sequential decline masks a much larger year-over-year story: digital securitization volume is up nearly 61 percent from a year ago, and credit unions in particular are emerging as a durable new source of issuance. As more issuers move from single transactions to repeat activity, digital documentation is proving itself to be core infrastructure for how auto finance gets funded, not a pilot program."
