Is asking your customers what they want a stupid question?

      • Focus groups?
      • Surveys that are meant to help determine what your customer wants?
      • Why rely on your customers for that info?

Why not take the time and have the imagination to figure it out yourself. Steve jobs did. Henry Ford said. "If I had asked my potential customers what they wanted, they would have told me, FASTER HORSES." Relying on your customers to help you, help them is lazy and ineffective. Selling them on what they need, if they've never asked for it, is hard. And you better be right...

To bring you customer, whether it be a car dealer or a car buyer a different experience, an experience that isn't "endorsed" by the majority or the "industry experts" takes uncommon commitment and super passion. And extreme courage.

Who, among car dealers, does this?

Who, among factories, does this? (Remember, factory run focus groups are responsible for products like the Pontiac Aztec.)

Who among trainers or consultants offers a real different (and more productive) experience?

I’m curious and anxious; will what has always worked, still work? In an industry that is a “poster child” for "the way it’s always been done” where is the sales or marketing innovation? (Once a year we get the "Super Bowl" commercials, and crap the rest of the time.) And I’m not talking about technology, there is plenty of that, most of it misused, abused, or abandoned soon after the installation.

Your opinion is eagerly anticipated and appreciated.

We do offer a different experience Richard. As far as we know we are the only sales training company that takes sales reps on a demo , does a walk around, does a service walk , go out prospecting , helps sales reps make phone calls and shows sales reps how to use at least six prospecting tools. We do a lot more that that. I know sales trainers that does some of this but not all of it. I think showing sales reps is far better than telling them. This sets us apart . Good question and thanks for asking.
