How can this be? How can success and failure be one in the same? That doesn’t make sense. Does it?
Professional Baseball Player- Gets up 5 times in a game and strikes out, all 5 times. One would agree his performance was a failure. He is a professional, which makes him successful. Right?
Professional Golfer- Has a round of 80. Eight shots over par. A very bad day, for professional golf standards. HIS/HER performance for the day was a huge failure. Correct?
Professional Basketball Player- Shoots 3 for 12 or 25%, for the game. A terrible shooting performance. A true failure. Right?
Professional Sales Representative- sees 40 people, closes 6 deals. Has a 15% closing ratio in a month’s time. A horrible closing performance. Total failing performance. Correct?
How can four professional people, have terrible performances, and still be considered successful?
How does their success, with incredible drive to succeed, result in failing performances?
Who is chastising them, and giving them more grief, than they already have?
Fact: The true professional, is always reminded of what failure truly feels like. The difference is, their professionalism, will drive them to practice, watch themselves, correct what isn’t quite right. They never give up! They live for being the Best of the Best, Point Blank Period!!!
Now let’s look at success…
Professional Baseball Player- Hits .350 for the season. Gets paid huge $$$$!!! He is an unbelievable player, right? He will fail 6.5 times more, than he is successful.
Professional Golfer- Has an incredible round shoots 63. That is 9 strokes behind par 72. This means he/ she will have 50%, success, for an incredible day.
Professional Basketball Player- Has an incredible season. He averages 28 points a game. Shoots 60 percent. He/she will fail 4 out of 10 shots, for an absolutely awesome season.
Professional Sales Representative - Talks with 40 customers, delivers 20 vehicles. Super-super star, this month. Fails 50%, for a great month.
In closing, everyone can have incredible success, with a lot of failure. The motivating drive, is the winning edge. Thru your failures, drive, your success. It truly is one in the same!
