More Reasons to Pay Close Attention to What Your Employees Say and What Your Company Does About It .For employers, the costs are real: Poor choices by their employees can bring with it not only bad publicity but the loss of confidential information and the risk that the employer and employee will be sued by a third party for a wide range of legal claims, including defamation, invasion of privacy, negligence, discrimination, false light publicity, public disclosure of private facts, infliction of emotional distress and violations of state and federal data breach laws.

Most people and companies using social media either don’t fully understand or are prepared to protect their business against possible litigation issues. I have not read about many  legal cases but it is only a matter of time before we will see more issues from this. Since it is a new concept for
us, not just new but growing at a rapid speed, doesn't it make sense for any company that is involved in social media to make sure your liability from employees and possible issues are covered by insurance at least?

Excellent point Lizelle if the GM/Dealer allows more than self controlling 'postings' to SM sites, by employee(s). Monitoring daily by the GM or Dealer is otherwise absolutely essential, if postings locations are 'known'. Your point on checking with insurance 'coverage' is also very astute advice. Ty for bringing this matter forward to DE s readers.
