Hiring X Military

Question to Dealers/Managers...anyone in the car business:All things being equal would you be more inclined to hire a Veteran,Any branch of the military,former Guard or Reservist over anyone else...and why?

Each and every time I have hired a Veteran, it has worked out fantastic!

The word "discipline" is the best attribute of all of these fine men and women that have served our Country!

Courteous, polite and hard working are other attributes that fit the veterans.

I say hire ALL of them that you can!!

Numbers I hear are that 48% of our people that are deployed are Guard and 22% of them coming back are either unemployed or underemployed,they helped us,we need to help them!

In most cases we exit the military a little better prepared to deal with the ups and downs of life. I have worked for and with ex military and have employed many ex military men and women.. They have stood out over my 46 years of work as among the best. Whether they volunteered or were drafted, it did not seem to make a difference. They all seemed to come home "better". Just as I was taught to respect my elders, the same respect goes out to all that have served. For a variety of reasons, I see them as a cut above. All else being equal, I'll opt for the X.

I am a Marine myself, so I have a natural affinity for hiring vets. However, I will tell you that anyone with military background, particularly those who served in infantry units do not scare easily. These are the guys and gals who have the discipline and work ethic to make it in this crazy business.

I always have and always will give preference to the vet if forced to choose between two candidates.

When hiring a military veteran you are bringing someone on board who knows what hard work and team work is all about. They fit the structure of a well run dealership. Sure, not all will make it in the industry but overall you have hired an asset to the organization.

Being a veteran myself, I may be a little biased, but I've always had excellent results from ex military people. Gimme me a vet anytime!!

As a trainer I love having ex-military in my classes. Not only do they bring with them a sense of purpose, dedication and determination, but they understand the importance of integrity.

Hire on merit. If a former service member has merit as a result of training or education gained while in service, thank Uncle Sam for valuable instruction.
