I start with people that are likeable,if I like them, others are likely to like them as well.I don't give my money to any salesperson I don't like. The must be a person of integrity!.....If I can start with a likeable person, I should be able to give them the tools, the motivation, the opportunity to help them suceed...not likeable, little ingegrity....can't use them.
Oh where, oh where has the old car salesman gone?
Oh where, oh where can he be?
With his hair cut short and his work week long.
Oh where, oh where can he be?

He's the teller at the bank you know
She's the waitress who pours your tea
He sells cellphones at the shopping mall
She's the gal at the pharmacy

Look for traits in all of them
That you would like to see
A career in automotive will be theirs
Just welcome the opportunity!
Such talent!! Whyb are` you still a bean counter???

I think they must have the desire and commitment to learn and be successful. Personality is a definite must....Give me a person like that and they will become a superstar!
agreed

I think that "Theme Song" is just perfect for this group....lets all learn it and sing it together at our first campfire outing?

Jake I think we can rasie a persons self esteem...they have everything else...but have been told no their entiore lives ,I feel we can push them, have them attempt and complete harder tasks, recognize them and that can build confidence

The very first key in hiring someone is presentation. How do they present themselves? are clean cut, look nice, so on. The next key how is their confidence and are they likeable. The third key is are they trainable. I can teach products, selling stratigies, motivation, goal setting, and alot of other stuff. But I can not teach inner confidence and a fealing of selfworth. I comes from with in, it all about the inside game, showing itself off.
Craig, could you give a couple examples of how you raise their self esteem?
The best way to help any person with low self esteem is to have them attempt harder tasks....higher expectations....body builders expend the size of their muscles based on lifting heavier weight,as human beings we "Expand by Demand".....Attempt more difficult tasks we grow stronger as people and start to believe we can in fact do anything....."What the mind can conceive and believe it can achieve" Whe we train new trainers I start them with an impossible first day of homework, they work togteher till 2 am,pushing, trying to do what I expect.....none does it 100%....and I tell them that the next day when they thought they had failed when in fact, they achieved so much more than had I just told them to look things over,go to your rooms and study....synergy is important.....people will rise the the task...if given the chance

I always say integrity first. I can teach and train lots of things; the character and integrity foundation should have been laid by parents, teachers, guardians, coaches etc. Speaking of coaches, I find people that have been involved in sports typically have a competitive nature which is a plus in our business. Must be willing and capable to learn. (You can't fix stupid). And as my late stepdad always said, "There's 2 reasons people fail in this business. They are lazy or they are stupid.
Brad that is so spot on....Rick Warren talks about Committment and character, something like the "The committments we choose to make develop who we become as human beings and strenthen our character. And I always love the lazy or stupid deal....it's all pretty simple.
I am trying to find salespeople at car dealerships. Of the 60 stores I have visted over the past 3 weeks, I have only had (in my estimation) one proper greeting of WELCOME TO......I have had, "Whats up?" and "How ya doin' " and "Can I hep ya?" At three store I stood on the showroom for over 10 minutes without one person saying hi - or even acknowledging my presence. How much does it cost to attract a customer to a store?
Let's get some career minded folks in these stores - people who go to work to work!
I can help. AutoMax has given me the tools - and with my skills and talents, let me help you!
