I have been in the automotive Management and consultant business for longer than I care to admit. Since I have had the pleasure of being a GM/GSM and consultant to dealers I feel that I have a pretty good idea of how to approach a dealer or GM/GSM if I was trying to sell them something. I have been back managing now for over 2 years and very successful as always. However I am amazed at the total lack of professionalism of vendors calling me daily trying to sell me something. My favorite…Continue

Who failed who?
Well it is the first of the year again and there is the normal flood of help wanted ads for GM’s and GSM’s and recruiters looking the next big thing for the same for dealers year after year across the country. The sad thing is that is normally it is the same dealers or dealer groups that are always looking for that certain man or woman that can…Continue
I am amazed at how many experts there are in the Automotive industry. Now I am being a tad bit sarcastic here so bare with me.
For the past 25 years of my automotive career I have been to numerous training seminars and they are almost always a repeat of something someone else said decades ago. The car business lost a great man this past Friday in George DuBois. I had the honor of working with George at the Bush Auto Group years ago. He was the GSM at Ardmore and I was at the West Chester Store. George always had a smile on his face and song in his heart. Some of the things I admired about George was that he never spoke a harm word about anyone and he always had something positive to say about everything and everybody. He was truly one of kind is this world, he was the kind of…Continue

I am a small dealer and I can’t afford to hire a consultant!
Too many times I hear that statement from a dealer that sells less than 75 units a month. It puzzles me to think that a dealer that sell less than 75 units a month does not think that they need to hire a consultant to help them get better. It was just last month that I had the pleasure of helping a smaller GM dealer and after the first week he had to admit that he had already gotten his money’s worth even though I was there…Continue
