Hi All,

Please indulge me in a short anecdote, and I feel an important message.

Finished my training this afternoon, 11 graduates newly hired into the car business by the way.  Decided I wanted to relax a bit (not driving home until tomorrow), and started talking to a person on the stool next to me at Applebee's.

Explained that I recruit, hire, and train inexperienced people to work in the auto business.  Talked about how 10 of the 11 people I helped this week had been out of work.  Before I left the bartender came out and shook my hand and said, "Thank you from Americans like me.  My neighbors go to work, and I pay less in tax dollars to keep them unemployed, I can see why you are willing to travel to do your job.".

I am not bringing up this as a testament to what I do, but more to illustrate the value to employing people to the American public.

I strongly urge all of you, who are hiring people now and going forward, to put in your advertisements "Looking for good people, we care about putting our fellow Americans back to work."  If you have an in with the local paper.  Get an article done about hiring.  They want those stories.  If I am working at your store, I am happy to do an interview.

It is about time that the public understands that the retail car industry is one of the backbones of the national economy, and our communities know that we employ their neighbors.

Employment is a hot button issue for the election and will continue to be highlighted on every news program.  We are part of the solution, everyone should know that!

I would love some other ideas to forward this great message.  Please post

I don't know the exact number of people employed in the U.S.A. relative to the auto industry, but I'm sue it is a BIG number.  We know first hand from helping dealers staff their stores that now, more than ever before, the talent pool is the best it has ever been.

"There is zero reason for unemployment in our country, there are excuses, but no reason. Thanks Greg, good stuff"

Thats funny that you would bring that up. My kids came with me to my deal this week Virginia Beach. My son sees the class size(21) and says " Are you going to get all these people jobs?" I told him , yep, I promised them I would! 17 down..... I love my work!

very cool

Really good post, Greg, and extremely sage advice.

Very, VERY cool, Hardy!!!

Yes our training program puts people to work and changes lives. A few months ago, I got a hug from a student, who thanked me for giving her a chance and beliving in her ability to sell. It was her smile and enthusiasm that will make her a success. There is no better reward for me than seeing the transformation in the students from day one (skeptical and nervous) to graduation (confident and excited) ... with a new career.

Got to love hugs!!!!

Great article Greg.  Its an amazing feeling knowing that you are actually doing something to help solve a major issue in our country, instead of just sitting back and complaining about it.

Very nice, Greg. This is an honorable profession that allows people to make a nice income to support their families. And it is not just the people who get the opportunity to sell automobiles but the "trickle down" effect on the entire economy. When we sell a car we put a whole bunch of people to work!

Great Article.  People helping each other!!  Way to go Greg.

Great point Greg.  The better dealers are, the better the sales staff can sell, the more secure the manufacturing jobs become.  The better off the factory worker are, the better off local business who sell to them are.  The economy rests on the backs of salespeople who can move product!
