Time to move on and do something about it.

 This True car deal is no different than the guy down the street advertising at cost or below. It's no different than when the internet came out and people were worried everyone will come in with the cost of a car. This simply is not the case. One thing will remain the same. The best trained sales force can overcome anything. What's your thoughts?

Thanks Fran! You know as well as I do the car is not a commodity but true car is pushing that idea. They have been advertising on tv and it seems to be working for them. I am seeing the print outs of the infamous bell curve. I have to admit I am a little nervous about what happens after Jan 1st. I have past customers asking if I will honor it. When I have a referral or an employee the truecar price is so low they really don't feel special anymore. I know dealing with me is a value in itself but Scott Painter has plans to eliminate me. His budget is bigger then mine right now.
Fran when you say time to move on that is what I may have to do. true car is all about price and they are training the customer to think that way.
My question to all of the trainers out there who travel the USA training people, Do you use a travel agent? Do you use a website?

its just one more gimmick to take our gross. One more scam that makes our job tougher. One more load of crap.

Yes Keith they have to honor a price. If customers have a trade I just go back to retail to retail or wholesale to wholesale and hold back on the trade. That isn't new.  94% of the people do business on down payment and payments. You stay on price you loose. Stay on down payments and payments and you will make more per car.  Thanks for the info my friend and best of luck to you.

@ Fran:  Understand that TrueCar is also coming after that hold - see www.ClearBook.com as their first offering in that direction.  Wait 'til they get to finance . . .

I think a lot of folks don't understand that, if you are a participating dealer who offered the car at the price, you MUST honor that price to stay on TrueCar.  NOT to say someone won't beat you up with a TrueCar price . . . just wait until the advertising blitz next year . . . since TrueCar.com has displaced Cars.com as Yahoo.com's auto partner as of Jan 1 . . . and so on.

 Good points everyone and I hope True Car works on getting better for everyone. I was training last week at Peterson Toyota in Lumberton NC.  A women came in with this info, She had a trade so we went back to selling. We held back on the trade and so on. She signed the papers in five minutes and said she love the deal. All her info was worthless. As far as someone calling with a price I would say this. I will do what ever it takes to make you happy. Price doesn't mean anything unless you like the car. What time can you come in.                           No different than when the net came out. Some you give away and some you make a lot. I'am just talking about selling and not the ethical part here. Thanks everyone.
