Time to move on and do something about it.

This True car deal is no different than the guy down the street advertising at cost or below. It's no different than when the internet came out and people were worried everyone will come in with the cost of a car. This simply is not the case. One thing will remain the same. The best trained sales force can overcome anything. What's your thoughts?

Fran the problem with TrueCar isn’t as much the pricing or their warped sense of transparency as much as it is their  theft and use of dealer data. As I have said many times.

"The price a dealer gives a customer is a private transaction between the customer and the dealer and is NOT for public consumption"

I don’t care if they are getting it from the DMS, Insurance agency, DealerTrack where ever IT DOESN'T MATTER!

TrueCar violated the dealers trust by taking the data and doing what they did with it. None of the dealers that allowed Zag to dial into their DMS knew what fields they were taking and why and Zag took more data than they needed to do what they told the dealer they were using the data for

THAT IS THEFT AND THAT IS THE ISSUE!

Sorry, Fran, but this isn't about selling.  It's a bit like, say, a poker game where the person playing across from you knows all your cards.  But you don't know theirs.  Price selling isn't selling, it's "I have this order from TrueCar for my new vehicle, can you process it for me?".  Thanks bud, nice to see you on here, and as usual always with a positive selling message!  :)

The thing that I see is that it comes down to the dealers. True car has no franchise rights there for they sell no cars the dealers do.....

The problem I have with TruCar is not the pricing.  The dealers are setting the price so you can't put the onus on the vendor BUT they are painting the picture that any dealer that isn't offering an extremely low price is not being "transparent" and therefore not someone to do business with.  Their BLOG is nothing but an outlet for all the customers who perceived they were taken advantage of ( and don't they all have that perception ) to relay their exagerrated, for dramatic effect, terrible experiences with those nasty dealers who believe that they should make a profit.  We have a dealer here in the Charlotte NC area Tru Car pricing Cruzes at triple net.  You have to be a pretty good saleperson to overcome that kind of pricing AND at the same time overcome the negative image that TruCar is painting of anyone who doesn't do business their way.  Besides, do you really think these TRuCar buyers are walking into the showroom and not comparing on the phone or online first?  How many opportunities are your 'supersalesman' actually getting to perform their magic?

To TruCar "Transparency" really means disappearing dealers.  Go ahead keep paying people that are openly bashing you through their "blogs" and insinuations against dealers.  It's Disgusting to me how little respect we have for ourselves.

Thanks Noel you have a good point. I agree with you Mr. Ree. I don't believe in giving cars away to make the factory happy. I hope True cars makes some adjustments and can find out a way to be fair with everyone. Time will tell.

Seems to me that the True Car pricing isn't as much of the issue as where they gather their information from and the goal of eliminating car dealerships in general.....

Well said Fran and that is the truth. People are always going to advertise super low impossible to get to, before destination prices. Well trained sales professionals will slow down the customer, build a relationship and value, then ask for the sale. I don't know why anyone would pay true car when with SEO and blowout advertising will accomplish the same for a lot less
